THEY. DESPERATELY. NEED. BUFFS. either that or I really cannot play these tanks. The M3 is meh, you know, just slightly under average but the M5... oh, ohhhhh by god its awful! It somehow has LESS armor than the M3! The gun is not the WORST but it certainly isn't enough to deal with tier 5 matchmaking, which is pretty much every battle in this tank. I'll hand it to the Stuarts, they do have exceptional mobility! But that really isn't enough when you have 5 shots with ~60 pen. That's alot of exposure time, and not alot of pen... bear in mind tanks like the StuG III G, VK 16.02 Leopard, KV-1, Durchbruchswagen 2, Hetzer, A-20, Pz. Sfl. IV (Yes I realise not many like the toaster, but a stuart hates when a toaster hits them twice with HE and then they are out of action), need I say more? What I'm sayin is I need help with the M5, I think it reallllly needs a buff!

They're all getting nerfed in 5.5.

If you think the m5 is bad, then oh joy wait until you try the glorious m5a1! (And yes I’m being sarcastic). In my opinion it is the worst of all the Stuart’s. While I was able to cope mederatly with the auto loader and speed on the regular m5, zoomed along the enemy’s flank and dumping some pellets into the enemy and screaming serpentine as I dodge and weave, trying not to get thanosed by derpy hetzer. But the m5a1 is even worse. It only allows you to put one shot in a time and by then everyone is pushing and shoving to get a chance to munch on your Chinese/American carcass. And idk the stats but it seemed to me that the mobility on this guy, which mind you is the one thing all Stuart’s have going for them, was worse than it’s American counter part. Now I’m probably wrong but this is just from personal experience. I’ll get off my soapbox now :p

Meh I liked all three of them - they are a challenge to play for sure but that makes the fun

The a1 has better mobility, actually. I used the stock gun and turret for even better mobility when i played it and it was quite nice. The regular m5 was ok, i didnt play it much

Carry lots of APCR.  And still expect bounces.  DW2, KV1.  And keep moving.  The derp hetzer loves to see them.

I was actually ranked in the top 20 in NA for the m3 light, still am I think. It isn't terrible, but you can definitely get bullied by other OP tier 3s.

I agree, it is unbelievably weak in  it's current state. Fighting tier 5 heavies with it is an absolute joke. Before the last round of low tier changes, I went out and aced every tank tiers 1-4 with min of 60% wr in all. All except the M5. It's just useless in far too many situations.

​I think 99% of everyone who has played them both even remotely recently will agree, the M5A1 is worlds better than than the M5. It's gun is actually capable of fighting tanks with armor, which pretty much get spammed at those tiers regardless of all the supposedly deterring changes they made to them.

I thought the stuarts were actually pretty good... already aced M5.... didn't bother to go back and ace M3 though. I just spammed APCR at everything that had armor and some that didn't.

​IIRC, you need APCR just to pen the back of most heavies. In what world is that a good tank? When was the last time you played it?

lol sorry guys about my mistake on the m5a1, but like I said it was from personal experience. I thought that the least worst of them all was the m5 simply because I enjoy an auto loader, however ineffective, more then a single shot. The Stuart’s are all rolling butterballs and I figure that regardless of whether pen or dmg dumping is your play style they need a buff or they will just be there to melt and spread on the dead toasters next to them :p
