say, "Thanks!"? Or respond with a thumb's up, in return?  Apparently something happens around 60% -- data is only from my personal experience, but it seems a real effect.

I'm not one of those who gushes MH 'effective/team player' in every game, or starts a wall of chat like some lonely shut-in, but a subset of players seems unwilling to initiate, return, or acknowledge a complement, or briefest of "good game!" comments. Weird.

I don't respond at all to a thumbs up, unless I recognize the person giving it to me.  I'm not trying to humblebrag, but I get way more than I would want to respond to.  Very very rarely will I give a thumbs up, I generally only do it when someone saves my a ss or truly impresses me.   MH is such a sh itshow I can't take it seriously, and I can't take all day to send a thank you to everyone who gives a thumbs up.  If someone sends me a post game message though, then I'll thank them and I'm happy to have a nice little convo with them.

I think it's a numbers game, not intentional rudeness.  When someone passes 60% they are having good games all the time so they are constantly getting thumbs up.

A good heavy driver knows how to make shots bounce off their armor, how to use cover while fighting at the front, when to get out there and just take the shot to protect his team, to keep the reds attention focused so his team can flank, and to consistently do damage while all of that happens.

I only respond (positively...) to people who PM me "nice game" or something like that, or I saw did an amazing job, or helped me out in a big way. Other than that, responding to every OK gameplay decision devalues the truly masterful players' decisions. You only get a limited number of thumbs up, so save them for players that actually deserve them.

I'm a 60%er and I give out thumbs up in the majority of battles. I know MH is meaningless, but I just like to think they say "good job" or "thanks for helping" to teammates and "good fight" to opponents.

I occasionally message a thanks to someone who gives me a thumbs up or return the favor, but not always. It depends on many things, including if I gave out all my upvotes already, what the player did in battle (e.g. I got an effective player yesterday from a guy who spent most of the battle yelling at me for running away (after I got blasted and lost 1300 of my hp) even though I managed to survive and do top damage in a win. I did not return that thumbs up), my mood and the alignment of the planets.

I give thumbs up/down quite often and typically don’t expect to receive, nor do I give an Ingame message. I think it’s similar to a “thank you” nothing less, nothing more.

I use all my thumbs up randomly, It mean there's a lot of 40%'s with purple stars because of me.

If I die I'm on to the next game.  My playing time is limited and I'm not going to use it watching others play.  Many times I receive a thumbs up but I'm in a game.  By the time I realize I've been given a thumbs up the time window has closed for me to give one in return.  That being said I will almost always respond to a PM.

I’ve actually had people give me thumbs up, and when I didn’t give one back to them, they have PM’d asking why I did respond in kind.
I’m like....seriously did you just ask that???

Since there is no limit to how many thumbs up, I hand them out to anyone that carried their own weight or made a great play that helped me or the team. I PM peeps that did an outstanding job and tell them nice job if they are on red or green. Why be bashful about reinforcing good play.

I give a thumbs up to anyone who gives me one.

Mid im not returning a thumbs up, I give them to the top three damage earners (that aren’t me).

I know it’s mostly meaningless, but it never hurts to encourage good play.

Also, I always give a thumbs up or worthy opponent to any forumer I recognize, regardless of their performance; just as a way of saying “hi” and acknowledging them.

I dont pay attention to it unless someone sends me one, then I try to return the gesture if it seems appropriate. But Im not going to call someone who potatoed an "effective player". I want to be kind and considerate when others are, but cant go that far.

I hand them out regularly.  I know I'm no lifetime 60%er, but I get my fair share of thumbs up from battles and it hasn't jaded me from doing so in kind to teammates that deserve it.  High damage or being a significant contributor in some other way will usually earn one.  If a red played a really strong battle and overcame the odds, I'll reward them, too.

If I remember (doesn't happen a lot) I'll usually give a thumbs up to the person who does the most damage on the team when it's not me. I also give thumbs to people who I feel performed particularly well in a match. Back when they first changed MH I would say thanks to anyone who gave me a thumbs up. Now, just because everyone loves to give out tons of upvotes, there are too many to worry about responding too unless I know the person who gave me one.
