AFK for 1 match = 1 matchmaking penalty for 3 games (have to wait 1 minute in queue before your actual matchmaking can start)

 

AFK for 2 matches = 2 minute penalty 

 

AFK for 3 matches = battle suspension

 

note: during penalty timer it you leave countdown and rejoin queue the timer will reset. Example: you have a penalty of 1 minute so at 30s you leave and renter queue the 30s goes to 1 minute. Have to wait full time.

It seems like a lot of the AFKers leave the game for a good while or they simply close out the app. If that is the case, a penalty of a few minutes won't affect them much, it might even go entirely unnoticed.

  Since when has afk become a verb?

 

  If you don’t shoot your gun (at an enemy) inside of the 1st 2 and half minutes you should be considered afking.

Nothing like afk or zero damage morons had four dudes on my team do zero damage yeasterday told them just go Afk or ride around tier one but they said they had no collector tanks n sold all there low tier tanks - so they can battle at high tiers to do zero damage at tier 7-

Instead of waiting in the que, I think they should wait in the garage where the "battle" button is replaced with a timer, just like when you get a MH ban. 

 

Let them clearly know that they are getting punished and what it is for.

Can't forget it's a cell phone game. We may take it seriously and play with intention for a half hour or more, but a ton of players (and $$) want something on a car trip, time before dinner, waiting for a movie to start, etc etc, things where they may drop the game at any moment. Not to mention reception. Afks are natural.

 

A better penalty would be X number of afks in a day or something of that sort. Enough to punish scripts/bots or trolls. Because WG expressly wants the other type of AFKs to play.

  It’s called respecting your peers. Playing and knowing you may have to drop the game at any second is just selfish. I understand some people get phone calls and life happens but if mom wants you to take out the trash, do it before you press the battle button and stop forcing her to make you put the device down because you didn’t do it the 1st time she asked.

I agree wi5 basic idea from OP. I would probably make the first afk a “freebie”, after that similar to his idea.

sit through 1 + x minutes doing nothing. 3 minute penalties would and are excruciating. I’ve been penalized for other games and have had to wait for 3 minutes and it’s not fun. Unnoticed would be an understatement.

Not if they leave in the middle of the game and don't come back for an hour

no offense, but I don’t think you understand my first post. If they leave during a game then when they come back to play another game they will have to wait 1 (or could be higher) minute(s) before they are placed in queue to be put into a match. If you leave matchmaker during penalty timer then reentering queue resets timer to original amount of minutes.

ohhhhhh...gotcha. I was thinking you were talking about a minute long ban but longer wait times in the lobby make more sense. Not a bad idear

Not everyone goes afk on purpose. Sometimes a persons phone dies, they loose internet connection or the game just freezes or kicks them out. Can’t penalize everyone as it’s often by mistake.

^^^I’d say about 99% of my afk games were because of one of these
