there is no best tier X; most of it depends on how you drive it.
In my opinion you should go for the T110E5

I recommend working through each tier, not each line. If you get experience with all or most tanks at a tier, then you know what you have to face as well as what you are driving. Every time you go up a tier, you are adding a whole collection of tanks you have not yet driven. . . . also, high tier tanks take longer to get and are more expensive to drive. I would rather thoroughly know every tank at tier 7 then push to own 3 teir X tanks and face a bunch of tier 8,9 and 10.
My favorite X to drive from your list is the M48, but like the others have said, it depends on the driver.

Almost all tier 9 and 10 tanks are good. This is especially true of tier 10 where there really isn't a bad tank. The weakest part of any tank - and especially any tier 10 tank - is the person using it.
In other words, if you aren't doing well in a vehicle, it's not because the vehicle is bad. There are other implications that I won't explicitly state.
Typically American tanks are good general purpose vehicles and don't excel at any one particular thing. They work best when they are played conservatively and thoughtfully with regards to the team composition and environment. Probably the strongest of the ones you listed is the T110E5. The others tend to be slightly more specialized. If those that specialization is something you understand and are skilled at working with, then it might be a good fit. But if you don't understand what that specialization is then don't waste the time and energy to get any of the other tanks.
There isn't really any "best" tank. People have different play styles and skill sets. Find a tank that matches you well. Or, take a tank that you already have and learn to make it work. Learning the nuances of a particular vehicle and making it all sing is far more rewarding than researching and obtaining a new tank.

Accept that bad players are a feature of the game.
