Realistic Mode

highlights......

-released in update 6.0.0

- no armor skins

- tank always deal ave damage (all IS spam deals 400 instead of 300-500).  No rng involved

-Pen is always ave pen.  No rng involved.

-no enemy markers on mini map... ever

- spotting changes. No view range and proximity spotting.  You have to be looked at to be spotted but can be spotted from far away.

-view range unlimited for all tanks

-no lightbulb when you are spotted

-new destruction animations (Maus turret completely falls off)

-enemy HP only shown while dealing damage to the tank or directly aimed at it by you or teammates

-no fantasy tanks (think they mentioned tier 9 T55a and tier 6 Strv will be allowed)

-no icons above tanks when using adrenaline, speed boost, etc.

-available for tiers 5 to 10 tanks

-only more or less historical tanks

-encounter and supremacy game modes available

-doesn't effect WR.  Like Mad Games and Rating battles

-Not permanent mode.  Available for a week or so and then disappear like Mad Games.

-available in six maps

Normandy

Rock Field

Desert Sands

Oasis

Winter Mal

Dead Rail

That should be most of it....

Camo and cover not really explained when all tanks have unlimited view range.  Guessing camo is now voided.  You have to be looking at a tank to spot it instead of the old view range and proximity spotting methods.

Is this a wish list or something you read as possibly coming?  I would simply be down with no more RNG.  After 25 battles in my IS6 in the last 24hrs at 33% WR with a 90% Hit Rate on target, I can tell you I am sick of 50% of my AP rounds doing 0 dmg crit hits on non-red armor and costing the team valuable dmg reduction.  HEAT might as well be using air puffs with "spaced armor", and RNG based Module Damage only.

Is it weird to like everything in the mode except the absence of *some* RNG for damage or shots? Dud rounds or imperfections in metal armor or unanticipated bounces all seem more realistic to me.

eta - thanks for putting this together

Livestream is coming to an end right now. I'll explain the spotting changes.

Yeah, tanks have unlimited view range. It works like this. Anyone on the enemy team can be seen across the map at any time, but without any markers above the tank. Imagine going into a training room, putting everyone on 1 team, and then turning all of your markers off. You'd still be able to see your teammates' tanks rolling around, but literally just the tank and that's it. It works like that for Realistic Mode, except when you put your center aim marker on an enemy, then you can see their HP and other markers.

So you can't really get "spotted", there's no sixth sense aka the lightbulb. If you're in a Grille and you climb a hill, anyone can see you on that hill if they look at the hill and see you up there. I have a feeling that if you use camp behind a bush, the enemy will be hard pressed to see you through that bush.

That was my take on it too.  View range spotting and proximity spotting is gone.  Now you have to be looked at to be seen.  Seems pretty cool mode and what people have been wanting.

Ok, then in theory it would be wise to mount a realistic camo that matches the terrain, no? Those pink and rainbow camos would be detrimental to your health in this game mode. Like in real life, the bright color camos would be like yelling HEY! I’M OVER HERE!

                                                                                                                          Keep it old school.

Conclusion: this is gonna be awesome. Literally what the veteran players have been asking for since...what, 2014?

No more anime tanks, no more pen or damage RNG, no more invisible tanks and concealment nonsense. Obviously, there's still aiming RNG and HP bars, but...

WG is embracing the historical aspect of this and kudos to them. If they want to move forward with more anime tanks and stuff, go ahead, as long as they're keeping this around. Mad Games and then this! WG is really stepping up their event gamemodes...

Ooh. Time to break out my zippy tanks and go ham on everything. Problem is figuring out line of sight [LOS] spotting mechanics first and its limitations. Once i know that, i will abuse camo and cover so much. Unfortunately, no minimap marker updates will be a bit of a problem since i tend to rely on that for checking general movements. This does sound like it'd be great for voice toons, though.

I may have a few too many tanks. I think I was over 150 in garage by last count.

This is going to be a temporary game mode, like mad games, we'll only get to play it every now and then.

I think heavies are going to be king because no hit skin.  Sniping TD's are going to have trouble because reds won't be lit up.  Lights will have trouble because they'll always be an auto pen.  Mediums will be medium.  These are all just my opinions, and my opinions are never wrong.  Except sometimes.

Will spotting matter?  You can see arrows when a red is spotted, but as soon as they aren't being directly spotted they'll disappear.  It'll be nice to have a general idea of where they are, but I don't know how worth it it will be to try playing a light and spotting.

This is all very interesting, I'm not sure if I'm gonna like it or not.

I love love love everything about this. My only tweak I’d make is put back the view range. Ie if you’re beyond any reds view range you remain concealed. Might make TDs op, but it might make light tanks more relevant.
