Oasis Palms, if I run the dunes and my team feints line they’re going with me then turns around and goes to town I run. I’ve had it happen several times, if you wait too long you’re dead so it’s always better to go if it looks cheesy early.
Port bay if I get to the bridges across the river and my teams are not moving or heading to town I’ll still take a peek from the one spawn because I can still get away if the reds show or my team doesn’t come. From the spawn on the other side you have to make your decision earlier because of you get caught out there you’re dead.
Canal, I’ll push the medium side but never alone. If my guys linger behind the 1st hill I’m out of there, I’d rather die fighting with the heavies in a spot I don’t like than fight in front of a bunch of laying back, non risk taking, unaggressive remoras.
Normandy, I hate the non beach side of the upper part of the map from both spawns. Guys go there and sit waiting for guys to pull out in front of them. I try to position somewhere I can pick up spots from reds who try to probe the other side, even with a TD. If my guys all go the other way, I’ll still position for a shot there then look to hold. if I notice my team pushing the other side unattested, I’ll give it up and head that way.
On just about every map I don’t commit to any one position and everything I do is situational, I also take into account team make up. The one thing you can’t account for is player skill level and if you base what you do on them being able to do their part or you expect them to, you’re going to be let down. Vineyards can be rough as Hell even if your team doesn’t go to town because guys will pick worthless positions to set up in where they don’t have LOS to any tanks you spot. . I just try to maximize my chances by playing off the poor spots my team mates choose to fight from when they set up out of position and draw the reds to them. Sometimes it works and sometimes my guys just sit there and wait to get flanked.
It’s frustrating.
