I got a 24-hour KpfPz 70 offer for 7500 gold. I can sell my remaining collector tanks and watch a few gold ads to cover that price entirely, so I can get it for free. Considering the fact that WG seems to be generously pumping out 7500-gold offers (I got my Type 59 fully equipped for 7500 gold a couple weeks ago), should I pull the trigger on this particular offer?

My son sold a bunch of his collector tanks and bought it for 7.5k, he’s pumped.

Now the offer just popped up for me except for 6k. Hmmmmm.

The price is likely tied to how many horseshoe charms you have.

Just got offer for 6k gold, didn’t sell anything and have enough free gold to get it. Is it worth it?

Other than very slow reload, it is average for Tier 9 tank imo.

The horseshoe charm point makes sense for those who got lower priced offers. .. it seems that 7500 is pretty close to a floor price for tier 8+ premiums so to see a tier 9 premium at that price seems like it might be the lowest it will go unless as a grinding target.

It's not a bad tank. I just got it recently when it was offered a month or so ago maybe with the legendary camo and stuff.

97 battles. 2 Masteries, 62% wr, 2116 avg dmg. I like it well enough, despite the slow reload/bad DPM and can usually make it work. That alpha lets you carry quite well in endgame situations.

Argue all you want, it's not a good tank. The only thing going for it is the visual appeal.

100% not worth that much money.

Yeah I just rolled over 7,500 gold yesterday and got the offer for the Kpf this morning. Was originally looking to get the Lowe with the gold, but not sure if the Kpf is the way to go or not.

How is it on making credits?

I only have 27 battles in it with a 55% WR but I absolutely love this tank and I’m looking forward to trying to master it more so.

I would say the best review to fully understand its uniqueness is Bushka’s video of it below. And to be absolutely honest, if you do not like this unique play style, you will probably hate it. So do not buy it until you fully understand it, otherwise you will be completely wasting your gold.

The best way I could describe it, is that it doesn’t fill a normal role but instead provides a unique, narrow, niche role between other normal roles. So the parameters for this role are very tight and if you can’t work within them, due to it not being compatible with your normal play style, you’ll hate it. If, however, the role parameters align with your play style, you’ll love it, as I do.

Strengths: Extremely low profile, OP turret, High Alpha

Weakness: Very Low DPM, Weak Hull, Long Reload, Long Turret

So because of these weaknesses, you can’t play a normal heavy role because you don’t have the body armour for it, nor can you reload fast enough to kill the enemy before they kill you. What you can do is play more second line, over watching and supporting your front heavies, using your OP turret to fight hull down. You can play front line at times (ie Hill on Mines), punishing the enemy quite a bit but only if you have at least a few teammates to support you and hold the enemy back from pushing up on the ridge line and punishing you, while you’re reloading.

Your optimal role really though is a finisher in the second half of the battle, knocking out heavies with strong armour who think they’re safe with enough hit points to push and take a couple of hits before dying. But you can finish them with a single shot. But this means you really need to reserve your hit points to pull this off. So you either need to play really cautiously, like a TD, or roll with other mediums and finish any other mediums they wound.

Note also my mention of one of it weaknesses is its long turret. If you try to push with this tank and get pinned into a position behind hard cover like a rock or building, you will effectively be useless, unable to fire, because if you turn your turret to fire at someone on your side, the long rear of the turret will stick out the other side of your hard cover and the enemy in front of you will be able to shoot your rear turret side easily. I killed an enemy KpfPz 70 this way super easily and I was laughing at easy it was to do and how he was oblivious to how he was getting hit (because he kept turning his turret).

All in all, I think the closest play style to this would be maybe a Chinese T-34-2 with the 122mm gun. Again it’s a tank that offers a unique play style for above average players who are looking for something different from the norm. If you want a tank that fits more into a normal role in a very OP way then I would most definitely not recommend this tank for you.

PS. Sk8xtrm also really likes this tank, even with its weaknesses.

Got mine on the cheap it seems. 4000 gold. Not bad for a tier 9.

I used to have a picture here but tiny pic took an arrow to the knee....

I've played the MBT, have to say its about average, maybe a bit ahead. It has a low profile, big punchy gun, HE shells that explode modules like fireworks, and overall adequate performance. Its alright in the credits department, definitely earns more than T9 mediums. Its best played a second line support vs a typical front line heavy. If you like supports, go for it. Plays sorta like a TD with armor but a less powerful gun.

I think that Gentle Nova’s note is dead on. It’s a great tank for that role with a few limitations that he outlined perfectly. One thing I would add is the tanks mobility. It accelerates very well and has an impressive top speed for a heavy. I use that to get into a firing position early, take a shot and then run back to a second line position before the reds can hit me. Even if they do hit me it’s usually a 500+ vs 200+ trade.

I actually bought the tank by mistake. I was showing my platoon buddy (my 9 year old daughter) the tank and instead of clicking back I clicked buy. Noooooooooo. I went from 8000+ gold to 500+ gold. I suppose I could have filed a ticket to get the purchase reversed but I bought so now I’m going to use it. Fun tank, looks cool, makes decent credits, happy to have it in my garage.

There is a reason they make 31 flavors.

I don’t know why but I really like this tank. It’s got a long long reload. But a tough pen from straight on as well. And when it hits it hits hard. This is not however a brawler. You will get out DPM’d by just about anything. It needs to be driven in support or even similar to a TD. But like I say I really enjoy this tank.

I avoided the 3-4 resales of this tank after all the bad pub it got. I finally broke down at some point and dang I like it. I can’t really put my finger on why either. It’s not fast or armored or have that DPM but the MBT and I just click. The gun hits hard and it’s shells fly true (when you give the reticle a moment to settle down). There’s something about a turreted tank with that much pen, alpha, and (enough) mobility that gives it a really high ceiling.
I don’t know if it’s for the masses, but I told my best platoon mates to pick it up when they get the offer.
