little bored and my tankin is stankin so I thought I would ask;

In your normal driving day under normal conditions and traffic,

What tank would suffice to make your daily driving less stressful?

I'm in smallish town with not much traffic and don't have to get out much.

I'm thinking a quick errand run in a Luchs or CDC.

But some of you guys are more rural and may have different preferences

What say you?

I'd go with the AMX-13/75.

Rage! What rage officer?  I have no rage. I have a landcruiser.

I'd have to agree with this.  I'd probably have the turret removed to further remove weight.

The AMX 13 was a fairly successful product for export,  so acquiring one shouldn't be too difficult.

I don't think you'd need to remove the turret. Those things are light enough. In terms of increasing the listed top speed of about 60kph, or 40ish mph, One could probably look into whether a speed governor was installed, and remove that. I'd also bet that a modern engine could be installed that might further increase top road speed.

This is the basis of why I chose the AMX, and why I don't think you'd need to change anything about it:

I haven't had to use the turret on my van for anything yet, so I think I'd be ok.

I'm pretty sure there are some strict laws about carrying a functional tank cannon around.  Figured I could circumnavigate these issues by just getting rid of the gun altogether.

At one time there was a half-track and a wheeled recon vehicle on the side streets in my area. It was said that the owner of the recon vehicle would collect debts by taping the bill to the end of his cannon’s muzzle. If it was me, I would have paid up as soon as I changed my underware.

Locust. Small, fast. Armored Smartcar

T34 Indy should get the eagle attachment.

I live in farm country and a Type 62 would be ideal. I could pass everyone like they were standing still and on Saturday night with a fresh coat of wax on the dragon or golden phoenix camo I’d make those wannabe farm kid, diesel 4x4, smog hog drivers wish they had one. I could also ram kill or smash the guys in the turbo rice runners parked in the Save-a-Lot parking lot looking for someone to buy them some beer.

The only thing I’d have to look out for would be farm implement, I’m not sure a 62 could take the punishment from a John Deere 9620 or something with tracks, let alone a 4 wheel drive combine. It’d probably even be iffy making contact with something as solid as an old Super M Farmall or tricycle A/C. I think it could run over the 8 and 9n Fords everyone with 5 acres owns like they were Volkswagen beetles and flip those tall field sprayers just by running under them at top speed, might be fun.

I used to live in Houston, and I think a Tiger P would be ideal for handling traffic.  It's mobile enough to get around, and if someone chooses to ignore the aftermarket blinkers I would install on it, they shall be crushed like your feelings after I make a momma joke.

I no longer live in Houston though, I live deep in the country and drive on pretty empty country roads.  So now I think an LTTB would be ideal.  I love speed and powerslides, I'd enjoy taking it mudding and laughing at the fools in their side by sides.  It'd probably need an upgrade in the air conditioning department though.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what would work in the woods. a big heavy would get stuck and probably be more fun in traffic. I knew Cletus would have a clue. o7

The Pershing/superpershing: the symbol of American WW2 might. Decent mobility, pretty hard hitting/ high pen gun, pretty accessible/comfy hatches, 4 mgs

Late war Sherman(M4A3E8 or Jumbo): accessible, big hatches, decent mobility, good gun depression to hit angry mobs rushing at your tank with sticks, 4 mgs

Otomatic (SPAAG): machine canon (Automatic 76 mm gun!) Italian pizza delivery system?
