The garage is the best place to keep that tank.  Or you can try playing around the cap circle.  Or go hill but stay back from the crest and let the reds come over, which isn't a bad plan if your TD's are backing you up.

I agree with Cletus. At tier 8 and up, you shouldn't be pushing over the ridge anyway. That's a 1-way ticket to camping-TD-oblivion. Maybe in a tank with good gun depression and an extremely strong turret but otherwise, nope. Stay back and let red crest the ridge.

The rocks on the opposite side of hill opening are pretty good.

Prevents most TD's from shooting you, allows you to shoot reds that get on hill or are sniping from the lighthouse island.

After the hill is cleared, you can hug that side when going towards North spawn without getting shot by the TD's.

What’s the problem going town side? I brawl in heavies all the time, I stick close to the rocks.

If if I have gun depression I’ll support hill but if I don’t I’ll do the above. Not all the time, depends on the Red lineup.

i pretty much go to the rock with the adjacent bush on all my meds/heviums if you're fast enough you can get camped unspotted before they make the hill and get a good tracking shot.

You can go hulldown on the rocks furthest from the hill (not on lighthouse island, still on the hill) and carefully put your shots in without getting shot by camping TDs at the back of the map. I always go there when I was still grinding my IS 3 and IS 8 and that spot is a pretty good spot for hulldown tanks with no gun depression.

Must. Have. 60%. Winrate. Under. 0.5%. Platoon. Rate!!! (30 day)

I have 11k WN8 and 2.5k WN7 on my Leichtraktor (Nano_Virus of the DAMGE clan). Not sure if I should be proud of this...

The problem is if hill gets overrun you get flanked from hill and die...in the specific case...I was holding hill with a pz58 which actually made them hold back for some reason while our whole team got demolished town...because town is TD los extravaganza...I didnt do any dmg...but my presence did make it so they didnt push hill...

went there first...no one pushed cross hill so I moved up which I am assuming as my mistake in that battle.

How do you post images in forums? I'd like to be able to post them so I can show some tactics I learned like how I angle my E100 or certain positions I use (pls don't use them if you haven't tested them yet in training rooms)

You can select “More Reply Options” on the bottom right of the “Reply to this topic” area. Then look for the “Attach Files” area on the bottom left of the next screen. You have a 500k limit, so you’ll have to resize some graphics to fit.

I’ve also copied and pasted material from an EU post to here but haven’t tried it from other sources.

I usually just sidescarpe off of the right side of the big rock where the entrance to the hill is and let tds bounce off my spaced armor.

there also is this janky flat part of the pike nose on each side of the is5 that makes it hard to sidescraping without them penning that flat part of the pike nose- do i angle more to hid the flat part?

WoT Blitz Mines.jpg

You can hulldown on tanks like the IS 3 and IS 5 on the circled location. Just watch out for meds on the hill if they do make it and your side from the lighthouse area.

This.  It allows you to shoot the tanks hugging the hill side.  The IS-5 has the depression.  It also gives you view to folks on the lighthouse hill.  You can also peak around the rocks to take shots on the spawn hill tds (just make sure your camo is reset when you do).  It also gives you shots on red heavies that may have gotten around the hill.  Don’t go there if red has effectively taken the hill, though.  It’s a little exposed.

IS-5 mines is simple. You've got 2 options. Go town side and meet red heavies trying to flank, or flank yourself. OR.. Go hill. Whatever you do, dont forget to say a hail Mary, cross your fingers and hope the gun doesnt troll ya.. Personally I prefer town flank because of bad gun depression and hill is so fricking boring in an IS-5. But hill is important and meds need some heavy support. If you go town side and use buildings then gun depression isnt much of an issue.

Hill with no peeking at the beginning is good enough. Be patient, use the bush with the rock on its right side, that gives you a chance to cover both coming reds and those that already went to the top of the hill.

Another option is town, but it depends on what the team decided at the start.

YouTube- search “Blitz University,” a channel by Posit1ve_.  Just found his channel recently after he took issue with Bushkas FV4005 review here in the forums.  A little salty but it was true.

Look for his tutorial on Mines.  The best you will find.  His other vids are great too.
