if i were to wear a fullface mountainbike helmet while riding my mountain bike around the suburbs, park, urban environment , would i look a bit overkill?? Like would i look a bit too much? Dont get me wrong i sometimes cycle to the nearest big hill where i do my downhilling if you can call it that, and sometimes i like to ride very rough especially going down a hilly street doing 30miles per hour and maybe some wheelies. This is because when you look up Urban freeride mtb on youtube u can see some videos where they wear fullface on their mountainbikes even in the city, and i dont know if people would think i look a bit too silly, i just like the helmet and the fact that its my only helmet.

thoughts?

Protection is key to minimize serious injury, maybe take some other gear like elbow pads, wrist protectors, etc along between your house and where you freeride, in a sports bag. I’d just think you’re a young person on the way to sporting event. If concerned about what others think, maybe use a small regular helmet while riding to and from, while you have the full one packed away.  Never had a helmet myself, but could have used one a few times. During a couple decades of riding, a few things happened with cars, branches causing me to smack down 180 degrees face forward, ice, slick zebra crossings for pedestrians, ...

Don't worry if it's silly or not, worry about your safety.

Must. Have. 60%. Winrate. Under. 0.5%. Platoon. Rate!!! (30 day)

I have 11k WN8 and 2.5k WN7 on my Leichtraktor (Player_81214765456 of the DAMGE clan). Not sure if I should be proud of this...

Like Mako said, don't worry about what others think. It's all up to your own judgment; if you feel uncomfortable about riding with a regular helmet, then wear a full face one. Just please at least wear some form of helmet.

Who needs to be able to hear on a city street? Who needs peripheral vision? There is a reason to wear a helmet that is made to protect the face from branches on a asphalt road.

I work with guys and know  others who almost kill themselves yearly mountain biking.  Protect your money maker, or just take up hiking like me.

I would, but I'm also very good looking so I have some valuable property on the front of my head.

Really though, work on your self confidence.  If you feel safer, cooler, or whatever, wear the full face.  Who cares what people think?  A full face wouldn't work for me, it's too hot in Texas and I need every bit of wind on me, but then again I'm not doing hardcore downhills, I'm just riding the streets and/or trails to keep in some semblance of shape.  But you do you, f the haters.

Are you ugly? Then a full faceface helmet might be for you.
