When they first came out, many tankers did not support the avatars, and stated that they would not be using them. That has changed and it appears that most of the player base have adopted the use of avatars. I’m still a hold out. Are there any other avatar non supporters out there or has everyone been converted?

I was converted as soon as they dropped. I think they're free and fun.

I don't think the Developers are pressing themselves by making them; on the New Year's Dev stream it was said that they just have one guy make them.

Why would they go away?

Probably upwards of 75% of players used them right-away, and as soon as they came out when a few people protested, the official stance was they’d not go away but rather be developed further.

They are doing a great job, adding avatars that show battles won and such, because you have to earn them.

Hobbies: Switching my avatar to a low battle avatar and pretending to be a nub

I don't use avatards, but I don't care if people do.  I actually like the people who use the Rasieniai winner avatards because it can help identify who to shoot first on Red.  I do wish the garage interface would stop with the red notification dot for new avatards.  It gets tiresome clicking on whatever new ones show up just to make the red dot go away.

I stopped even trying to get rid of it. I have become one with my inner tranquility. A notification? No concern of mine.

...

*clicks all the avatars*

Yes, peace, finally.

Avatars are the spawn of Satan. When they came out I predicted they would sell them for gold. I was mocked.
I hold out hope they might go away. Sometimes Wargaming reverses truly horrendous decisions ... like spare parts.

I thought they were stupid... till I saw the tiger avatar.  Now Im contemplating getting the animal spirit thing so I can swap out my purple border for a gold one.

Got my epic avatar from the Panzer 58 bundle some time ago when it first dropped, used it ever since

They're there, and you can't delete them so may as well use them.

I actually think that's why  some other players use avatars. To hide that they are seal clubbing

I agree about hte notifications

you can break most of them into parts, but you can only get more avatars with the leftovers.

acrisis, the original drop of avatars were, let say, less than sensible. Fluffy Snowman, Candy Cane, Snow flake, Christmas Lights, etc.

What age range were they targeting?

So many complaints were justified, but now you see more relative avatars which the mature players had requested.

so KUDO’s to WG for listening....!!!!

Obviously they target the younger crowd and perhaps those who want the shiniest medal of a kind.

For whatever reason they started Christmas-y ...

Reception would have been different if they had launched with regular ones let’s say three months before then, but I recall Ribble responding that achievement ones were coming soon after.

Nope.  I don't use them and never will. It's something that may appeal to the young players that always need validation, like look at me "I'm a Snowflake". Ha Ha.   And I hate it when the come in crates or as prizes.  They can get rid of them at any time and it wouldn't bother me. They can get rid of boosters at the same time.  Just give me a tank that I can compete with and I would be happy.  No [edited]Mickey Mouse stuff. KISS.( Keep It Simple Stupid)

Totally agree. Ribble called me out stating “what difference does it make. sorry that it disturbed you that much”

He totally missed the point, but happy to see avatars that are more relevant to this game.

Still seeing the avatars with the ones sucking on the “pacifier”....now that’s hilarious....!!!! and let’s not discuss paying for attachments like driving around with a “pumpkin”....LOLOLOLOLOL

They have a business model and again KUDO’s to them at their client targeting and marketing goals and trying to diverse their audience.

PSA:  We got new accumulative avatars today.  If you want to get rid of all your red dots, you have to click on every level of that accumulative avatar you have achieved.  The new ones are pretty shiny though, I'm sure they'll be a big hit.

If a person feels powerless or insignificant in their life, the easiest way to achieve power is to make other people angry; every internet troll has known this since 1993 and every toddler has known it since the dawn of time.

A dark part of me is chuckling at the collective seizures our anti-avatar group will have when they boot up after the update. Oh, the humanity!
