Man, I wish. Sales rep 1...yeah, he’s my Brother-in-Law, my wife’s sister’s husband. My wife has already told me she’d take the kids and all my earthly possessions if I fire him.

Here’s the thing - I’ve provided him with every tool possible to be more successful, but all he does is blame his failures on market conditions, his fellow sales reps, you name it. I’ve shown him point blank that he’s costing me money, but he still insists that he’s doing a great job.

What can I do??

I thought your post was a joke/ sarcasm

It appears you are ending up with diminishing returns. You have a solid amount of reps, but most of them aren't pulling their weight. In fact, 5 of your 7 reps are not justifying their pay, so loss is guaranteed to happen. Rep #1 and #4 in particular are contributing the most to your losses, as they have the lowest sales to pay ratio. You will not be profiting as much if you were to remove them, but that is offset by not having to pay their salaries, thus giving you a net gain. Since you cannot remove Rep #1, is there a different position you can transfer him to that will not be sales?

Your setup reads like a math problem to the point where it feels made up.  But any points I would attempt to make have already been made.  Cletus makes the best point with commission based salary.  Either you meet the requirements or you take a hit to your wallet and learn the hard way what "Working your tail off" means.

At least none of your 7 salesmen aren’t getting zero done, that really hurts the bottom line. :arta:

I don’t know if this is a serious thread. If it is, I don’t know why you would ask for business advice on a gaming forum. I’ve owned and operated a business for the past 26 years and this would be the last place I would ask for help.

With that said, for some real business advice, look for a TAB group (The Alternative Board) in your area. I’ve been a member for 7 years. You will get good solid advice from that group.

You should probably get some marital counseling as well.

Hope this helps.

Fire the guy who wrote your contracts. If you are that guy, see the posts about business advice, and also look for someone who can find the loopholes in the contracts you do have. Then use the business advice some more.

Although it’s unlikely, make the bil the wife’s problem, not yours ,if you can. Why should you be the only one with that problem?

So J rod, I think it's safe to say that we are all curious, on how you handled this. A lot of players made a genuine effort to help.

Or was it just a farce?

Hey guys, I need some help with my business, specifically with my sales team. All of a sudden I find that we're in the red and losing money and I can't seem to figure out why. I've got seven reps and each rep is paid a set monthly salary and as we're a services company, the revenues they bring in are only offset by the cost of their salaries, so profit = Sales - Salary.

Can you help me understand why I'm losing money??

Rep Salary Sales
1 $10,000 $7,900
2 $10,000 $12,000
3 $13,500 $14,250
4 $11,000 $9,500
5 $9,600 $9,000
6 $9,700 $9,250
7 $9,000 $8,000

So it's been a week since you posted this. Are you going to give us a update?

Or was it just ONE BIG LIE?

My apologies as I thought this post was deleted. I didn’t realize it was moved.

I don’t genuinely need help with my business because this post was simply a metaphor. My BIL is that crappy player that doesn’t understand that they’re the problem.

The salaries? Yeah, that’s just the damage multiplied by ten pulled from a recent game of a forumer who is consistently blaming his teammates.

If the situation I highlighted was true, I’d give my BIL the chance to improve and if he didn’t, he’d be looking for other employment. As all you know, in real life performance matters, especially if it’s costing a company money. Unfortunately, we can’t do that in Blitz, which is why we have players coming on here and blaming others when they are the ones dragging everyone else down.

a business has so many other variables, my guess is that this has nothing to do with business and everything to do with the game.

This guy gets it.
