[READ POST 1st BEFORE VOTING!!!!!]

I propose a Tier X 1970's Prototype Merkava

It would be a Heavy tank most likely.

It would be as featured:

The 105 millimeter M64 L71A  gun mounted on the Merkava Mk. 1. Which enter service in 1979, however the gun is from the British and was used in mltiple tanks from the Leopard 1 to the Tortoise to the Centurion 1, making it perfectly eligeble for the 1970 Proto Merkava.

The engine was placed in the front of the tank to protect crew from injuries. The downside would be it could be imobolized more often in the open. IT would have a Teledyne Continental AVDS-1790-6A 908 hp (677 kW) V12air-cooleddiesel engine and a Allison CD850-6BX (2 fwd / 1 rev) transmission. Its acceleration from 0-32km/h is 15 seconds with 46 km/h as a top speed.

The Merkava would be 7.45 meter's in length (without gun)and 2.65 meters tall. This is smaller than an IS-7 which is 7.22 meters by 3.29 meters tall.

Due to the size it would be interesting in battle situations because it would be harder to hit and easier to go hull down, this tanks main advantage.

The armor is realtivaly thin with a large lower plate, the armor tough is angled around 60-70 degrees and wold make it good hull down. It would have a strong turret, and the turret ring has one or two weks spots, similar to a Lowe. Its side armor is thinner around 30-50mm I read somewhere.....

War of Thunder already added the Ma'gach III in game, WG should follow suit and add Israel tanks whether they be tech tree or premium. They are not to modern as the Type 64 was put in service in 1974. Since it would be a 1970's tank it would be 50 years old.

Here's some models:

What do y'all think? Thiswould be a nice tank in game. Start the discussion!
Texas_Tyrant
The rest of the tank tree can be worked out, the Merkava is the prize!

Modern is relative.

I’ve noticed a strong lack of Spare Parts. Is that intended?

No, it is not. This problem will solve itself with time. Many players have several dozens of vehicles in their Garages, so they don’t have enough Spare Parts for the entire vehicle fleet. But you will gradually collect enough Spare Parts to unlock new slots for purchased tanks in time.

It is modern technology relative to the vehicles in the established tech trees, which go up to the 1960s, iirc.

There are a bunch of tanks in tech trees post 1960's. So this would not be a concern and can easily be balanced.

But if it isn't in WOT, for any combination of reasons, even though there's been some user chatter for years, nothing has materialized, why would WG be motivated to bring this to Blitz first? out of the blue?

Same reason they're adding Jap TD tanks....

Why despair at the same time? Have hope!

I'm far from a tank specialist ... but using your link

Leopard, started development in 1956, prototypes in 1960, in service 1965
M60, started development in 1957, in service 1960, first used 1960.

Sheridan, 1965 ...

Merkava, started development in 1970, in service 1979, first used 1982

Anyhow.

Due to the secrecy of the project we do not know exactly when they started work on the tank, so it could have been as early as 1965. 1970 is when it was discovered work was going on. As to the tank not getting put into service until 1979 the Type 64 was not put into service until 1974, and even so, we ara talking about a 1970's model of the Merkava. Not a 1979 Merkava Mk. 1 Big difference, the gun for the 1970's Merkava is the same turret used on the Merkava Mk.1 which is already in the game on some of the Tier X British tanks, I think. My point was that the 1979 Merkava Mk. 1 used a turret that was already a decade old. So we ca assume it was used on the 1970 Prototype Merkava.

Many of the tanks in WoTB were only on paper any way so I think it would be safe to put this tank in game without any conflicts with it being too modern. :)

In addition the Sheridan was developed in 1968, right? I really don't want to argue over little nitty-gritty facts over the dates when they don't conflict or cause problems to the game as a whole. I think we can agree that a Sheridan tank changed the entire game meta vs. a Israeli heavy tank that is dated from that time period.....If a Sheridan can be in game shooting guided missiles I think a Tier X 1970's Prototype Merkava which doesn't shoot guided missiles and uses older equipment can be used in game.

I don't see any problems with the tank. It's not not like WG has to use it's real life stats to balance. Kpfpz 70 for example. I would like it to be researchable.

If WG wants to add something they will.

We have plenty of fake tanks, and I would not say they’re all balanced.

I apologize, I just tire of wg-must-add-this-next drum repeatedly, similar to arty, vehicles that wg said no to, or vehicles that are not even in the original big game ...

I understand the repeated asking-for-tanks annoys some people. Such as the Japanese Heavy tanks.... But seriously, I think Israeli tanks should at least be looked at as collectors because they are so unique. :)
