Yippee,

Now I can’t even log in! I guess I will try one more time in the latter evening.

I guess I will login into Youtube and watch Drew Peacock roast people and their cars.

Oh, my apologies...everyone, their families and fellow players be safe during this Covid - 19 nonsense

Been getting ghost shots and lag with 40-50 ping. Just got dropped in a game where I had no control over the tank. Ping was still 40-50.

Looked to see what server I was on, and saw it was C2. I’ve tried to change servers by logging on and off, but no luck. I’m stuck on C2. Two different times I’ve attempted to change servers, each time at least 15-20 times, but to no avail.

That occurs when the signal is totally lost -- the game client doesn't have new data so it just tells you the previous ping.

Whenever my kids reboot the router that happens to me -- I'm playing fine with 38 ping - then I either sail under an object or do donuts etc, but my ping is still a wonderful 38 or something...

Thanks Cru

I eventually sent in a ticket, since I was not able to connect to a different server. They said it picks the best server for you to play on (most playable server for you). They said to talk with your ISP about the dropped packets. Typically it is Tcore or Telia that has the issues at the major hubs (Chicago, San Jose, Denver, etc) from the Northwest, so dead end.

Used Ping plotter and C2 was better than C0. I could not connect to C1.

Has anyone been playing on 5G? Are you using a 5G device? Curious to see if it is better than WiFi.

Some times I play on 5G - my Wifi is better for Ping - until Telia or TCore decide to "assist" me.

5G my ping on 5G is around 75-120 while my ping on WiFi is 35-55, so I opt for Wifi unless it gets screwy.

When I have played, I would logon to the NA, European and Russian servers based on “ people’s sleep time”, simply because of the silliness of the above thread title.

My host base server is the NA Server

Here were my login and exit times on the WOT Blitz various severs:

European Server: 2100-2300 EST
NA Server: 2300 - 0100 EST
Russian Server: 0200 - until I’m crossed eyed and yawning, despite drinking something with caffeine in it, until 0330. EST

Just a thought

I had horrible spikes today.  Tank rolling forward nonstop when peeking to fire...had to give up playing for the day.

Line three is right near you.

My line 3 is on the other side of town.  I have road runner / time warner cable - now spectrum and the equipment in the next town over, across the river, before leaving the area, " burps " every sixty seconds or so. Fortunately it is usually just for a second or two and does not seem to cause a lot of issues gaming wise. At least not in blitz.

You could try calling your ISP, but be prepared for that to take a fair bit of time and a total waste of time when I have done it; because you're dealing with outsourcing and then just level 1 and 2 support that wants to reset your equipment and send a technician to your house.  Sadly enough. With my prior ISP - just in state - I could actually get stuff like this looked at over the phone by level 2 and engineering. Not so with the mega-corps.  Resetting my equipment in a multi-story house with the ISP box in a corner of the basement is a pita. Have to take an old laptop with ethernet, sigh ...

Anyway. Hoping it resolves itself, maybe they were working on the line down the street. If not. Time for a call.

Yah I'm not blaming WG for this period of time.  This has been going on for days now and it seems to have occurred right after the Texas Ice Age week.  Spectrum was out for most of that week and I would guess some things are not back to 100%.  You are 100% correct calling someone at the ISP will result in 0 help and progress.  I work for a Telecom..so I know how these things go.  "What's that Bob?  Guy says he has a crappy connection to a mobile tank game at one of our hubs?  Yah I will get right on that after I finish my Thesis on World Domination by Lemmings."

Tried to check connection on ping plotter, since I had a laggy game with 50 ping. The server address location no longer works. I tried “login2.wotblitz.com” along with login0 and login1, but it will not connect. I am connected to through my ISP since I just played a game.

Anyone know the new address?

Game is very laggy. Someone else complained about it in game. I’d like to know if it’s WG servers or ISP.

Now I can connect to all three servers using ping plotter with the same addresses. WG still forces me to server 2. Ping looks good and no dropped packages, but game is still laggy.

The weekend before I was seeing severe ping swings and double digit packet loss for severel days.

If you were on brighthouse / spectrum / charter ... it was one ongoing cluster of issues in Tampa, Orlando, Atlanta, New Jersey.

Then during the week, it all cleared up.

If the game seems laggy, despite good ping, I would still force close all apps and reboot my device, for good measure.

Thanks Acrisis!

I’m on xfinity in PNW. The issue cleared up after those two days. Not sure what was going on, as well as why ping plotter could not connect to WG servers.

Getting bad in game lag again. Noticed that sometimes at start of match ping will jump to 150-200, then once everyone has settled, the ping will drop back down to 40-60. Now when lag hits in game, besides the tank jumping, not controllable, I will get static over the speakers. Never had static before. Don’t understand if lag is caused by dropped packets, then why is there static?

A brief ping fluctuation at the start could possibly be something where we get into a queue and then a server instance to play the battle, ...

Vehicle not being controllable does mean severe ping and packet loss, floating in the air, sinking in the sand, ... all mean that there is communication loss.

Static over your speakers really sounds like a device issue, where either something is not functioning properly or something is interfering heavily. Because sounds and effects in game are all on your drive ( not live streamed ), plus the sounds are played based on in game occurrences (drive near this or that, fire shot, etc), so I can think of no reason why your sound would have internet related issues.

I would close all programs / apps, then do a restart of the system. Perhaps with an aging system with limited memory, that may be prudent to do before every gaming session.

Having experiences where my game doesn't respond and the tanks seem like they are either melting into the ground or flying in the air, then it forces me back to the login screen. Some of it happened during the day and I thought 'well, let's do it at night' but it didn't change a thing. Haven't run pingplotter yet so I can't say for sure whether it's on my end or WG's.

EDIT: Just happened again and I've had pingplotter running, so here's an image.

Based on that image, I would say you have some packet loss and connection issues at home.

You are losing half a percent of packets - which is not all that much, but not good either, it should be zero - from your device till you leave home.

Then at 12:09 and 12:19 … the packet loss was 100 = no control over your tank, flying tanks, sinking tanks,  …

( I still don’t know why that visually is allowed to happen the way it does … because it would be possible in code if I were in charge. )

Also, your average ping from 90 ms shot up to 1790 ms, which is terrible to play a game. But again that started on line 1 … which is inside of your home.

I would suggest to force close all apps, shutting down the system, rebooting network modem and or router.

Are you playing on 2.4 ghz wifi? Or 5 ghz?

5 ghz. Anyways it seemed like it was on my end since all it took was a restart and disconnect/reconnect of my wi-fi (this is why wired internet is the best imo.) Thanks for the advice, though.

You are welcome.
Glad you have it sorted.

It should be noted that 5GHz is great for top speed and does not suffer interference on the 2.4 GHz band like standard 2.4 wifi does ( microwave cooking nukes 2.4 ) but it does not have the same range stability like 2.4 GHz does. It works great at shorter range with few obstacles.

Also, devices tend to hold on to the signal they have, rather than switch to a stronger one. If you have more than one network, as in both 2.4 and 5, a device may like to stick to 5 even though the signal is degraded ... ditto on the 2.4 at range, where maybe a phone should drop the wifi and fall back on LTE, but no, it desperately tries to stick to wifi.

New routers and wifi protocols with mesh network nodes should help with this in the future, that they'll keep an eye on communication levels and will steer devices accordingly.
