So i was bored and thought "hey, why is T-10 named IS-8? IRL it was dubbed the 'T-10' relating to... "political" issues...

oh Jesus. I just googled that thinking it was a game reference... but T-10 was NOT American name for IS-8. it was the Soviet name after Joseph Stalin died.

Based off of the t10's wikipedia page, it appears that the IS8 was one of the names during development. It was also called the IS9, and when they approved it for production it was called the t10. So I guess that the IS8 and t10 were different tanks.

They were pretty much the same, and I remember reading that the name changed due to de-Stalinization after Stalin's death. The Soviets wanted to dismantle the cult of personality that surrounded him.
