When 7.0 came out I took a few tanks out for a spin - starting with the ARL.  It seemed like the gun recoil mechanic wasn't turned on - but that's because the ARL evidently doesn't have a recoiling gun.  I am guessing it did not in real life either?  Also, the T57 gun barely recoils at all.  I suspect WG has done their homework on this aspect of the tanks.  Yes, it's just a game, but it imports some of these historical aspects of these vehicles.

I didn't pick up on that...very interesting.  The recoil is very cool.  I also like the shell holes.

The shell holes are corny looking, but cool nontheless and the gun recoil is barely noticable in battle. Its still very cool though.

I wonder if there is a calculation based on the ratio of the power of the gun to the weight of the tank.  Little shells, heavy tank = low recoil    big shells, little tank [T49] = big recoil. 

 

Has anybody played the T49?  Does it seem like it's going to flip over when you shoot?

Hmm, a lot of low tier tanks don't seem to have gun recoil. The recoil looks nice on the Chaffee though.

Only in Low Gravity mode.  The only thing recoil may have done to my T49 is to make the shells fly in a curve, missing the target.

If a T49 is circling a tank on it's left, and it fires, physics says the recoil force would combine with the angular momentum to push it to the right.  If it was firing the other direction, it would help it not flip, but if it's firing towards the inside of the circle, it would help it flip.

I’m always in sniper mode when I’m taking a shot, so I can’t see the recoil

 

i guess I can go to a training room to go into third person mode a see?
 

anyone else tried that?

I've watched players after I died....it's a cool look!  And [I think] the recoil is more evident in sniper mode when you fire.

The tracks stay on the ground.  The rest of the tank recoils.  That's suspension moving.

It was written in the fine print that not all tanks will have recoil yet. Apparently some tanks are harder to animate than others, I.e. the Maus, Ferdinand, and others

It looks much better on big 122mm and 152mm guns.

Wargaming said gun recoil is based on caliber of the gun, bigger the gun, more visible the recoil is. That’s why in grille it’s very evident, but on a Sherman, it’s not.

In their update video, WG mentioned that they haven't been able to implement it for all tanks yet, but it will be arriving in future updates.
