If you go straight on, your lower plate is weak. If you angle 45 degrees, your pike nose is exposed. If you overangle, you sides get weaker. Plus, the gun can barely hit a thing.

I'm not saying it's bad, because the turret is best in class and it's super fast and 400 alpha is still great. But still, how do you play it?

Also, I'll ignore people saying "is7 sucks" and "sell" because I like is7 and I have is4 on my other account.

The way I played it, it's mobile enough to get to a good position to get right up in your enemies face. That makes the aim time and dispersion kinda ok at close range. It's a good tank, but it's not my playstyle.

When the lower plate is actually the best armor on the entire tank.

the IS-3 should be played like a medium and you should never brawl other heavies unless you want an early trip back to the garage. Your turret is invincible and if you have the opportunity to, you should facehug enemies if you know that they don't have the gun depression to shoot your pikenose in a facehug.

If ur being serious, then facing straight at the enemy at 0 degrees makes the armor most effective?

It’s an important tank to wiggle, as the pike nose tends to get bounces that way. Your alpha is good, but reload long, don’t over expose, roll out, take careful aim, blast for full effect (and hope your recent sacrifices to the Rng gods was sufficient), roll back into cover to wait for reload. Don’t take “pot shots”, reload is too long for that. You need to be among friends as focus fire will end you quick. :bush:

that's the point of the pike nose. The armor is preangled for you. if you angle the IS-3, you'll make a part of the pikenose weak.

So an IS5 with less armor?

IS-5 has a more angled pikenose and front I believe, it's just that ugly cupola. Easy to hit, harder to hit a weakpoint on IS-3(depending on pen)

Okay. I've never played real pike noses so I'm used to angling. Thanks!

Wiggle, sidescrape (if you're savvy enough to do it in a pike nose tank), reverse sidescrape (pray not to be rushed or it'll hurt), hull down (mmmm that turret is phenomenal), and don't aim for weakspots too much, just aim for big grey areas if possible, so you'll only need to aim at your enemies' general direction and let papa Stalin do the rest.
