He knows the basics, like how to drive, the good camos, and turn the hull and the turret when being circled, smasher is broken, e.t.c.. but what are some other good tips for him, like avoid KV2 in a LT or don't stick to the stock consumables/ammunition?

How about keep moving, and don't play tier 6 and up until 1000 games?

#1 don’t rush up the tiers

#2 don’t rush out in the open, use terrain and hard cover to your advantage

The rest is covered in various guides and video tutorial series.

Learn game mechanics thoroughly -- spotting, camo, armor and ammunition characteristics, as well as their own tank characteristics - and where to best play ones tank from its strengths - and enemy weaknesses.

Maybe he can find a friend who's a good blitz player and teach him everything?

There is a didease called tunnel vision.
The medicine for it is awareness. (Might be related to the principles of Buddhism of the same name but I don’t know)

awareness (noun, /əˈwernəs/) :

this game is 7v7, and even when  it’s not looking good and 1v3, it’s not 1v1, and things right in front of you might not be the most dangerous.
you aren’t always the strongest tank around, and even the strongest tank has it’s weakness. So your job to prioritize targets. For exemple neutralize your strong man’s nemesis. Or put yourself in a position of being helped by allies against your own archenemies. Don’t go straight one way because you shut saw something there. You might be better off shooting that same thing from a different place.

to do this:

  1. study the teamlist. Who eats who ? Especially who eats you and who are you supposed to eat ?
  2. watch the minimap all game, every 3s. Well, as often as you can.

how many tanks red and green ?

Who goes where ? What is their reasons for going there ?

Who is invisible ? Where would you go if you were these invisible tanks ?

It’s a little complex to figure it all out and it might slow down your thought process for a while, but if you aren’t driving a brain dead clicker tank smasher, then this is where game are won.

on the other hand if you are driving a smasher, games are won in your wallet, please die.

His HP is more valuable than anybody elses. The game is about shooting people without getting shot back. The other half is that in a brawl a bigger group of tanks will win with a  disproportionate advantage.

Honestly it might even be worth watching wot PC videos, its the same logic. There really aren't any goo blitz youtubers in terms of getting better, droodles, meadsy, pantuflee, bushka are basically all good players but they're all just the exact same person saying the same tropes and with a different accent.

Even lemmingrush on pc. Obviously theres differences like arty/camo being actually important but the idea of thinking about every decision you make consciously to do the most to help your team win

Be patientDon't rush in;  Don't brawl unnecessarily

Know your tanks and enemy tanks;  Know your tanks' role;

Knowing the maps allows situation awareness;  Read Minimap often;

Drive to coverFight like you have no armor;  Relocate and reset camo often;

Hull down is OP;  Stay on high ground; Beware of where all enemy tanks are,

Make sure he knows that if anyone doesn't like how he plays the proper response is "It's just a game."

If a person feels powerless or insignificant in their life, the easiest way to achieve power is to make other people angry; every internet troll has known this since 1993 and every toddler has known it since the dawn of time.

I appreciate there effort but the content is still too general and high level to be off practical value. Any one of these tips can use a dedicated video. Specifics are what help the most. All of the YT WOT videos are just too general. They are not looking at it from a beginner's point of view. Sometimes, I'll run across a WG video with some specifics but unfortunately impractical because it does not apply to actual app experience.

The mechanics and basics for the game are the same, regardless of the game version you play, they share the same foundation.
It is just how one plays that is different: touch screen vs keyboard + mouse vs controller.

How specific a video do you want?

On what exactly?

Super basic how to start playing low tiers from scratch?
Intermediate levels and techniques?
Detailed mechanics of the game?
