Hi everyone! 

 

I picked up this game a few months back after a year or so away, and I started grinding out the new Maus line. I got the VK 100.01 (P) a while back, have done about 20 games in it and I'm trying to figure it out...

 

I have terrible luck with the matchmaker (always bottom tier tank), and I'm finding that by the time I get to the action in this thing it's either over, or half my team is already dead. I'm still on the stock gun, which feels pretty weak, and when combined with the long reload resulting in low DPM and I get eaten up by the tier 9s pretty quickly. 

 

Since most of my games are against tier 9s, I've been playing mostly either camping from behind, or duck and cover and pop out only when I'm done reloading, which mostly works a bit if it's a town map. 

 

I already installed the rammer and have a chocolate bar and both improved fuel installed for provisions, but it seems to marginally help and become a big money loser if I lose the match. 

 

What are your tips for that thing? And should I just try to free XP my way to the top gun?

get top modules. learn how to sidescrape and also learn how to angle your tank properly. you are a superheavy that can bully and anchor against even tier 9 heavies. The reason you die to tier 9s is because you're probably not angling and bouncing shots properly.

Sidescrape a ton. Make sure to find a side scraping position that hides your cupola, and stick up the gun and angle the turret in case you are face hugged. Hide that tiny lower plate as well.

 

Focus on the top gun ASAP, it provides a massive alpha increase and you will be able to tank with Tier IX opponents. 

 

The VK is my favorite Tier 8 heavy along with the IS-3, so I have some tips for ya.

1. Never camp in this tank
2. Wiggle ur tank in brawls
3. Sidecrape
4. Trade shots withbother heavies- 460 at t8 is a lot
5. It has surprising good gun dep-use it!
6. Elevate yout gun to hide your commanders hatch
7. Do all the above and you're gooden!

I did several games in it and was slaughtered.   I was getting closer to 50 percent over all but this tank ruined it.   I lost like 9 in a row.  

 

The stock gun is TERRIBLE.  It has no accuracy.   If you aren't close enough to touch your enemy.  You will miss.   

 

The damage is pathetic.   Its barely more than the T62 light tank and has the reload time of a KV2.       I'm not going to waste another ounce of frustration on this POS.          I even wasted a Christmas camo on it.

There's too many alternatives in the same tier, 252U, T26E5, Tiger II.     

 

I'm done with this worthless box.

Boy was I wrong about this tank!  I got it maxed out now and I LOVE it!!   It plays how I thought the Tiger II SHOULD play.   

 

The armor is great and the gun does over 400 damage.    I had a 5 kill game today with a cap....and still didn't ace it lol.   I did go on a 6 game win streak with it.      Its slow but I was still getting around, putting my gun to use.  A couple times when my team froze, I charged forward and eventually died, but me doing that inspired my team to push forward too and we won. 

 

Basically now that I have this fully upgraded, why use the Tiger II?

Tiger II is more mobile, but I prefer the VK 100.  Epic armor, godly sidescraper, thicc gun, its the german dream.
