Hey y'all! So I just received a free key from the free boxes, and I'm wondering whether I should open a crate or exchange the key for 300 gold. I've read all the details in the store and in the in-game news, but I'm still not sure whether or not the bare minimum you can receive from opening a crate would be worth 300 gold. Thoughts on this? Opinions? Personal experiences? Stories told by your long lost, great uncle Ferdinand?

 

 

Edit: Also, can I use this key later down the road on a different crate? (Maybe one that guarantees a tank drop? )

I got a free key and the box I opened barfed up lots of parts of certificates, some nice xp cerfigicates, and assorted credits and free xp.  I'd go with the box personally, the gold doesn't seem to amount because the certificates will add up over time

Well.   I can't answer.   I keep waiting for a key.    I have a SMASHER box, and like 6 Cheiftrajn boxes .....   No keys.   Someone with a better winrate might answer, but that's what I got.

I got lucky And got 2 keys in a row. I now have 50 certificates towards the T44, Bunch of Free experience certificates also. And some gold I think.

  Unless you are starving for gold, I think the key is worth more than 300 gold.

 They are very few and far between.

 But that is just my opinion

You can hang onto the key for a different lock box later, if you like. 
 

It may be refundable for 300 gold but the purchase price is 750 gold if you want two, so you’re saving a little gold by hanging onto it. 
 

Another way to think of that gold is that it’s six days of watching ads. From that perspective, I’d say use it now if there’s a crate you want to open or use it later, but don’t sell it.

You guys are getting KEYS? I've opened more boxes than I can count and I haven't got a single key. Just going to have to say goodbye to the 30 something chieftain boxes in my inventory.

I say open the box.  There's good stuff in there, and there's still the chance to win the Mark 6, which I've enjoyed having.

 

Also, there's a deal right now, $3 for 1000 gold [I think, I bought it this morning so I can't see it anymore].

Definitely open the box. You can grind 300 gold on ads in a week.

300 gold is worth about a dollar.

2% chance of dropping the Chieftain, so 50 crates on average. 50 x 300 = 15000. Would you rather have 15k gold or a Chieftain along with whatever other rewards you can expect to drop (including a 3-4k gold)? I think it's a pretty easy choice unless you already have the tank.

Thank you all kindly for you advice and observations! It helped me. I've decided to hang on to this key in hopes that the "one tank always guaranteed" type of crates will come back to stores
