Recently I decided to continue my grind to the T57 heavy that I began months ago, but due to other distractions was put on hold. I had enough XP and credits saved up from the T49 and I decided to get the tank, not expecting much of it. I don’t really know why I thought the tank would be weak, maybe because I never encountered many good players in it? I was wrong to think this tank was below average. In around 40 battles, I have averaged almost 3000 damage, just under 70% wins, and well over 4000 WN8. I tend to play well in tier 9s, but these stats are way out of my tier 9 ballpark. Am I just getting lucky, or do people overlook the greatness of the 54E1 in their efforts to get the T57 heavy?

I've heard a number of folks say it's underrated but I personally did not play it so can't say. IIRC it doesn't have HE? That's kind of a bummer for me because I love the risk/reward of that ammo type.

The top gun doesn't have HE, unfortunately. I haven't missed HE as much as I thought I would though, the 330 clip fairs very well at tier 8 and 9, especially with the 2.5 second interclip reload.

Yeah the 2.5s intraclip can be devastating on the T57 as well. Might actually have convinced me to go back and try it out. I generally really enjoy playing tier 9s.

Good tier 9 med, definitely one of the many hidden gems

T54E1 is better than it ever has been. It's been given a few buffs here and there, ecspecially to its gun handling. 

 

I really enjoyed it! It has pretty decent speed for such a great 930 damage clip. We will see how well it competes with the Skoda T50 come update 7.7, but for now its in a pretty good spot as a TT tier IX medium autoloader.

Think it’s had 2 buffs since it was released and it needed them. The first buff made it manegable. The 2nd is really what let it come into its own.

I think its really good. Just a lot of the tie people overestimate how good having average rather then mediocre armour is and way underestimate pure damage dealing ability.

I thought it was decent when it first came out -- I haven't played it since the buffs, but I think a lot of people underestimate it.

It’s definitely not my greatest tank, but it’s definitely fun and can be really strong when played well. The armor is pretty troll because of all the weird/unique angles on the turret, the clip reload feels really quick, and if you can preserve hp in the beginning of the battle you can really wreck people in the end. One game I clipped out 3 tanks in the last minute when I was alone against 4. I ended up losing but got close to 4K damage. I’ve aced it a couple times with around the same damage. I think it’s a fairly easy ace just because not that many people play it a lot.

it used to be runny dog crap that couldn't pen wet TP.

 

Has since been buffed.

 

It's a good tank.

I wasn’t aware of recent buffs to it. I haven’t played mine in years and have over 1k battles in it. It was pretty decent then so wondering how much better it is now.
