Interesting, that does usually signal that.
But if so, it is a marked departure from WG’s generally initial crate release method.

I wouldn't mind dropping some gold on crates. Ever since the blitz fair, I've had a surplus and filled up another one of those 16k gold boxes.

I don’t like crates - mainly because a game that is for 12+ to me shouldn’t have gambling aspects.
That said, I understand it’s a very profitable system for WG and until either significant public opinion turns against them (meaning few buy crates) or legislative action by governments (and I dislike that option) occurs - WG is going to continue this business model.
To me, parents should be educating their children to the aspects of crate/loot box gambling - and make them see that the instant gratification from crates isn’t likely to be ‘worth it’. That said pixel value is in the eye of the purchaser - and so it’s up to the individual to determine if it’s desired or not.
Another thing to consider is that WG sells you a Porsche but reserves the right to nerf it into a Nissan Sentra. That’s my biggest issue with buying pixel tanks. Buyer beware…

No one should be shocked that this is coming first in crates.
WG’s business models for premiums at 7 and higher is a first release in crates for $
It was viciously hammered by the nerf bat after testing as well.
As a retiree, I play Blitz as entertainment and don’t mind spending real $ on it. I do have a huge problem w/crates so I avoid them. Still, why is any tank that goes 20 kph thought of highly enough to be in crates. Kinda like that Pilot I thing….

I got the Pilot direct sale. I like it, and snagged another ave in it yesterday — I would have skipped the Turtle regardless in its current condition, but crates totally sealed the deal.

It's not so much that it's thought of highly, but rather that it forces scarcity. By putting it in crates, it gives everyone a small chance of winning with minimal investment and also keeps the number of new tanks entering the game low, thus increasing rarity and perceived value.
For those really wanting the tank, here are the various odds -
1250 gold for 1 crate - 4% chance to get the tank
2500 gold for 3 crates - 11.5% chance to get the tank
10k gold for 10 crates - 33.5% chance to get the tank
17.5k gold for 19 crates - 53.9% chance to get the tank
There are two approaches to getting the tank, straight gambling and playing the odds. If you're going to straight up gamble, I personally wouldn't do anything beyond the 2500 gold for 3 crates. You lose minimal gold and you get a small chance to win.
If you really want the tank, you want to purchase the crates in this order -
3 crates for 2500 gold - 3 charms & 11.5% running chance - 2500 gold spent total
19 crates for 17.5k gold - 22 charms and 59.2% running chance - 20k gold spent total
1 crate for 1250 gold - 23 charms and 60.9% running chance - 21,250 gold spent total
1 crate for 1250 gold - 24 charms and 62.45% running chance - 22,500 gold spent total
1 crate for 1250 gold - 25 charms and 100% chance to receive tank - 23,750 gold spent total
Obviously if you get the tank prior to getting to the 25 charms, that's a win, but to definitely get the tank, you'll have to send 23,750 gold. Also, please note that I am NOT advocating doing this. Just highlighting the cheapest path to definitely get the tank.

Yeah I got the Pilot from one of those random tank drops, I like it, it’s decent. Looks cool too. The “Turd” as described in YT is a hard pass for me. Too slow, not nearly enough armor.

Only time I ever went “all in” on crates was for the Super Conq. I went big and got like 20+ crates. Big mistake. Never, ever again.

So I spent 2,500 gold figuring - meh I have the gold.
Turkey popped up first crate.
