Okay. Curious as to anyone’s thoughts on what would be the superior machine. Advantages vs disadvantages. Feel free to drop detailed opinions. Very curious.

ST-I is a great classic tier IX heavy, with a good gun and gun depression and a superior turret (one of the best overall turret in the game). It can hold against tier X, and great to punish tier 8s.

IS-8 is a superb mobile heavy, the very essence of a heavium tank in this game. It is the bane of any medium tank existence. 

 

IMHO, ST-I is easier to play though, but if you can learn how to play IS-8 it is a great tank.

If Is-8 was played as a medium tank it would be very strong. Great gun to go with it.
ST-1 imo is just a versatile heavy. Fights hills and town like no problem. not afraid at all. Thats a great tank right there

IS-8 has a bad reputation because it just doesn't belong in the IS-7 branch. I find it a fun vehicle, medium tank bully and sometimes works good against Tier 8 heavies.

 

Never played the ST-I (stuck on the KV-4) but a Gun Depression Russian heavy sounds fun.

 

IMHO if the Object 257 replaced the IS-8 in the IS-7 line, and the IS-8 gets its own mini branch with the Object 257, I'll be happy. Maybe it'll be the next tech tree?

 

(personally I think it's going to be the T-100 LT, and maybe the 60TP this fall or winter)
