This is a first for me.   Saw a Missle coming at me... Maybe a couple hundred yards out.   It literally hit me right in my view finder.  It scared the bajesus out of me.  I jumped, I physically ducked. Hope it wasn't caught on camera

If you can see the missile in flight, then you’re safe, you’re in a movie.

You can see a TOW in flight - and (from experience) you can see a SAM shot at a helo you are in.

you can see a tank shell in flight. mainly the thing that defines whether or not you can see something is how big it is and how long you have to look for it. the speed of a thing really only has an impact on the latter.

 

edit: obvious lighting, contrast, etc also factor in!
