Whenever I enter a battle, 95% of all of rankable tanks are rank 1. I wonder why that is?

I wouldn't be adverse to it if you didn't have to throw away credits to rank up. Like, seriously? Paying for a cosmetic that is literally on a lesser level than avatars? At least with avatars you get free ones that you earn for the number of high calibers/Raseinai's/Kolobonov's, and etc. that you get, allowing you to slightly flex your skill/hard work. Ranks are a grind that literally has zero payoff.

They destroyed the perceived value by releasing it for so many tanks at once. 

 

When they did the T77, it was exclusive. As soon as the exclusivity disappeared... who gives a rip? Marketing fail.

I use the ranks to identify the nubs. So far it’s been universal that any above about 3 means player is a 40%er. I check after battle, and haven’t seen anyone who wastes  bothers with the resources needed to rank up is certainly low WR.

its weird to add a credit sink when XP gain wayyyyy outpaces credit gain already

Like avatars and attachments, It has zero impact on game performance so I'll free rank to 1 then leave it there. Focus and use your valuable resources on things that affect game play like crew skills. But I guess there's a market for the cosmetic stuff.

With the amount of tier 1 tanks they're giving PBR, we might as well see it.

maybe when I'm out of tanks to buy I'll ramp some up, but will WG ever actually let me run out?

I hope WG quietly enables a feature that drops the rank off a tank if the rank isn't increased after the default 1st rank after an amount of time goes by.

Ok, in the interest of experimentation I ran up the ranks with another tank.

 

At nearly 1200 battles my beloved KV-1S is a top three battle-count tank for me. I spent 300,000 credits getting it to rank 20... and immediately ran into a hard wall.

 

Why? Well, I've hardly played it in the past few years. Wargaming in their infinite wisdom requires a certain number of mastery badges to hop every 10 factor rank. Which were not counted as accrued badges until a year or two of updates ago... instead of handing them several million credits turning this up to 50 in a nanosecond, I'm stuck. So even if some vets wanted to ram all their credits to ranks on legacy tanks (tier 6 for the vast majority of us) uh, they can't really do it! 

 

tl, dr: even the one market that wargaming could possibly bleed dry with this dumb ranking system isn't possible due to stupid design
