Thanks, samboca, that's actually a LOT lower than I anticipated.  Guess it is just relaying compressed mathematical data. Makes it even more puzzling about the ping spikes, if only that much bandwidth is needed, as typically none of our streaming activities cause buffering, but streamed AV data has a sufficient cache to roll through the lows ... whereas the online game is 100% live, no caching.

Exactly.  Streaming media files is bursty, where large chunks are pulled periodically and buffered locally.  Game playing is a constant transmission of small packets to relay coordinates, status, etc.  I haven't looked, but the traffic is probably UDP traffic, which by definition is drop-able and not retransmitted.

And remember, the path to each remote service is different.  There may be a dozen or more hops between you and the gaming server, and that path is entirely different than say, a path to Netflix or Spotify.  So its apples and oranges.

What is a good ping? Mine seems to be about 30-60 most of the time.

... actually can't play tonight. Getting pings of 250-350 up to over a thousand?

Everything rebooted, no web activity, broadband tested and is wide open, ...

I usually hover around 40-50ms. Anything more is jerky up to impossible to play with for me.

The past week ping has been really junk at times, sometimes am, but especially pm, prime time in the evening, where it'll jump to several hundred or thousand in game for no apparent reason. Traffic light in the garage keep switching yellow/red.

Of course WG suggests looking at my in home wifi, reboot devices, upgrade to iOS 8.1.3 Blitz 1.6.0 etc. Yeah. We have three access points, which I installed and admin. It's part of what I do. I've rebooted the modem and router more in the past two weeks than I've done in six years. If there's other network activity, OS updates coming in, movies streaming, etc I simply don't play, as our "broadband" isn't anything to brag about. We're rural and the last person on the line. Makes it suspect to congestion, but whenever blitz gets bad, I can speedtest to the nearest out of state server just fine.

Now, WG requested some speed test results from when I was having issues. Sent them a nice history of our connection maxing out with 40-50ms latency during the past few weeks.  Curious what they'll say or ask next. So far no word on whether it is congestion, server maintenance, etc on their end.

Well you guys down in the states are lucky my lowest pings are around 100-130. My highest is well over 3k, so games have been so jerky and laggy lately. My game stops and I die a lot, but ping sits and boucnes around the 100-130 mark. Still get the game ending lag out though.
