Hey Lephturn, thought of your podcast today: On Oasis Palms, I set a KV-3 on fire when it was already in the water. I had just listened to episode 6 or 7 where you mentioned that you weren't sure if fire extinguished engine/fuel fires. You also mentioned "So when you're on Oasis Palms—oh wait, not Oasis Palms, there's no water there, maybe on Lost Temple, if you get set on fire, run into the water". Anyway, yes, there is water (not much) on Oasis Palms. And at least if a KV-3 is already in the water, a Black Prince firing APCR from an elevated position can set him on fire and do 450+ damage total before it goes out.

Congrats on a fun podcast! I'm learning a lot.

Sweet! Evidence - so you can be set on fire when in the water. Thank you for reporting this. Now I'd like to try it when the thank is basically under water just to be sure - but that one will probably take a while!

I am glad you are enjoying the podcast. Lokeen and I have a new epic episode all recorded and I'm editing it tonight. It's about 1.9, Panther review, and Desert Sands breakdown.

With Lokeen and I it takes me a long time to edit - you wouldn't believe how much laughter I have to edit out where we just break down laughing uncontrollably! Make sure you listen to the end after the music fades out - I put our out-takes at the very end.

Yeah I wanted to take a screenshot for you, but screenshots freeze my phone for about 10 whole seconds and there were two red tanks making moves on me.

Some day we may get replays... that's when we'll get the ability to see these things happen without needing to stop in-game to grab a picture!

They said they used to have replays working but it would lead to in-game crashing for a lot of players, so they disabled them until they can figure it out. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

We can hope... it would be great if there was a little video camera button - push it and it records say 30 seconds. It wouldn't be as good as always available replays, but it would prevent it from being an issue during most game play.

Certain devices have that. My tablet can continuously record last 10 minutes of gameplay, and if you had a good game, you press a button, and it saves that clip.

But it has its limitations in terms of battery life and overall performance.

A sure-fire, in-engine replay system would be much preferred. So you can pause, switch players, examine all angles and stuff. Maybe that's just platform limitations.

That would be amazing.  To have the ability to not only record but pause the recording and analyze it.  Imagine stopping the image on your tank just as you get hit and then being able to spin or pivot the camera angle to see everything.  Neat thoughts!

Well I fell behind on this thread. Last week was Episode 014 of Tank Boom! Buffs and Nerfs are Coming

00:30 - Lephturn and Lokeen kick it off

02:00 - Russian developer Q&A with Overlord translation and fist-bump to Three60Mafia
03:10 - Leopard 1 line - German medium line
04:27 - Type 59 premium tank coming in 2015 and China will likely be the next country
06:15 - In upcoming patches configuration options will allow enabling/disabling of some graphics features
06:45 - The team with the Lowe loses - no more. Lowe and Super Pershing buffs coming
07:40 - Balance changes are minimal - mostly gun dispersion with some turret traverse an a bit of reload tweaking
08:30 - Clan wars coming, fix chat bug, and please filter/sort friend list!
09:27 - Oasis Palms will be redesigned - again - as it sees the most draws of any map
10:25 - Draws = loss so go for the win!
13:20 - TOG II (Weiner-mobile) in the tech tree for gold in 1.9
13:50 - Buff/Nerf list for 1.9: IS-7 and IS-8 buffed and the IS-3 nerfed hardest
18:55 - IS-8 buffed? The most rage-sold tank in the game will get re-bought again by many. Lephturn included.
19:55 - Fail platoon fix coming in 1.10
23:01 - Team damage is not coming back
24:00 - Fixing Rockfield imbalance
24:46 - Lost Temple optimization and rebalancing including moving the cap location
25:26 - Auto loaders are coming soon on appropriate tanks
27:19 - nVidia Shield tablet fix incoming
27:40 - Ability to disable in-game chat is being considered
29:50 - Fan favorite tanks like the KV-2 and Sherman Jumbo planned for 1.11
31:07 - Creating a clan will cost silver - probably a good idea
32:00 - VK 45.02 B Traverse buff just in time for Lephturn to buy it
34:35 - Out takes!

Don't miss the out-takes at the end. I always have to cut a bunch of laughter out when Lokeen and I record, but I try to save a few funny bits and put them at the very end.

Out this morning is Tank Boom! Episode 15 - Sand in my Panther

Listen online here: http://tankboom.libsyn.com/tank-boom-episode-015-sand-in-my-panther

Or of course get it on your phone or tablet through your Podcast app on iOS or Stitcher on Android!

We've got a Tank Teardown of the Panther and a Battlefield Breakdown of Desert Sands.  It's a long one - which was why last week's podcast didn't include all of this content. Also believe it or not this content is Clean - we do not say a swear word (well we do but I edit them out!) although we allude to one. :)

Do you guys like the out-takes at the end? I think they are funny but that's because I'm in them - should I keep doing this or leave them out?

Block Quote

00:30 - Tank Teardown - Panther

00:40 - Moving up the German medium line VK 30.02 M to the Panther

01:46 - The Panther's place in WWII history
03:40 - The Panther was a medium to long range support tank - and so it is in Blitz
05:27 - Buy it to try it: Panther/M10 to check it out without the grind
08:00 - Panther and the line up to E50M are really "meavies" - medium/heavy hybrids
10:00 - German Panther - E50M Line = RAM ALL THE THINGS!
10:17 - The top gun on the VK M will help the Panther grind
13:25 - Panther upgrade path
13:58 - Which laser beam do you choose - the 8.8 or the 7.5 L/100? I pick the 7.5 L/100 for aim time, accuracy, and penetration
17:41 - Actually it was Robert Palmer Lokeen!
19:00 - The E50 and E50M are a different style and can brawl to some degree + great for ramming
21:00 - Support tanks are good at support

22:00 - Battlefield Breakdown of Desert Sands - the other desert map
25:00 - Heavies side scrape or reverse side scrape off the buildings in town
27:40 - Use the dips near the railway to hull-down and use crumbling walls for cover
29:55 - Tanking in your tank - possible XP bonus for taking fire later this year
30:40 - The desert flank - look for the Messerschmitt Bf 109. We said "Schmitt"!
33:32 - When the flank goes horribly wrong
35:10 - Rolling dunes in the desert make for hull down positions
36:40 - If you're not pushing you're not flanking!
40:24 - All on flank can win this map, but only if it's a surprise
41:50 - Short flank along the tracks can work in the right situation
43:25 - One side has better sniper positions
46:30 - Elevated TD sniper positions with no cover are generally a bad idea - once lit up you are dead
47:20 - End of the railway tracks can be a good TD or sniper position
49:21 - Beware, you can shoot under the rail cars across the map
52:00 - Low tier? Track the enemy when they expose themselves
52:12 - Lephturn hearts the ST-I
52:55 - Watch the early rush up to your side of the wall to light up your team
57:00 - Email Lephturn@tankboom.com or Lokeen@tankboom.com with your questions and suggestions!
58:02 - Out-takes - SCHMITT - we said SCHMITT!

I enjoy them....and they are at the end, so if someone doesn't like them, it's easy to not listen to them and not miss any of the actual podcast.

Thanks _Desslok_ ! Good to hear. Lokeen cracks me up constantly, but I wasn't sure if it was as funny to everyone else. :)  I don't keep all of the laughing in, I think I cut out about 5 minutes of uncontrollable laughter per episode, but I try to keep a few of the funniest bits.

Cool! I was just thinking about dusting off my VK 30.02 M that's been collecting dust and heading up that line. Look forward to listening.

Thanks SonnefVolta! Lokeen and I have a blast doing them as well. Any particular tank or map you would like us to tackle next? What can we help you with?

You will love it! That gun is a laser beam. Going back to it now I think you'll find it's better than you remember. :)  Feel free to friend me in game and we'll platoon two of them.
