Thanks guys! I took the map request into account and reviewed Winter Malinovka in Ep. 4 which I just submitted!

 

I'm going to do something with a music playlist this week for episode 5.

Just finished episode 4 - really great job again.  Your map strategy on Malinovka was really helpful - it would have taken me
quite a few more battles to figure that out on my own.

If you are ever looking at ideas for additional content, what would be useful to me (and hopefully some others) would be a discussion of platoon strategy.  I have just
started platooning a bit and would like to do some more.  However, I'm usually at a loss as far as what to do with my platoon mate
other than what I do when I'm going solo.  So any discussion of tactics such as splitting up, stay together, or different tank combinations, etc.

would be useful.

Thanks again for doing these - I'm sure they consume a decent amount of your spare time, but I appreciate it - I go running often and
these have been great to listen to on my runs.

Great suggestion. I platoon fairly often and we have had some discussion about the best ways to do this within the Triarii. I will be happy to share my ideas and strategies.

 

I'm getting better and faster at it slowly, as well as learning to do a better job. I had a few rough edits in the 3rd episode but I'm getting better at it now.

 

I did Castilla in episode 1 Cheez - although it was brand new. I'll revisit it but probably not for a while. I want to be a little better on this map and let the overall meta strategy evolve on that map before I tackle it again.

 

I'm thinking Sunken Temple or Oasis Palms - both excellent and very different maps.

So my wife and I commute together, which is nice on fuel costs but can also turn into a behavioral science experiment most mornings...I live in the DFW area, so traffic is a bit narly.  Anyway, couldn't have been more excited when I got the notification that a new episode of Tank Boom had arrived on my Downcast feed.  Of course, I wanted to listen right then and there.  Hilarity ensues as my wife tries to understand the finer points of map strategy on Winter Malikova and what Lephturn means by 'glass cannon'.

I was glad to have the last episode to listen too while washing dishes. My wife came in and asked what I was listening too. When I told her it was a WotB podcast she just laughed.

Your advice about holding the windmill hill on Winter Malinovka was spot on.   I had a battle last night where my team got there while the reds had all scattered into town or tried the flank.  I used the chat to tell everyone to hold the windmill hill rather than charging off... this strategy worked really well for us.  We picked the reds off one by one from the higher ground and dominated that board.    S.S.

You are faster on the keyboard than I am I think - good job. If you can convince the team to just hold that high ground and wait you'll usually win - the enemy normally pops up in ones and twos and gets ripped apart. Once you get them set up if you call targets it can also help - getting everyone to focus fire on a single enemy works so well when you are up on the high ground!

Ha!  I was in the Matilda... I have all the time in the word to chat in that turtle.  Also, I think I was just lucky to have a couple of top tiers give me the quick "affirmative".

Yes you are lucky your had folks respond "Affirmative" instead of "Shut up nub I have a tier IX" that you get sometimes.

 

Just curious - are you using iTunes or Stitcher to listen?

Another great episode! Thanks for covering Winter Mal! Very timely review with all the forum chatter about this map in the last week or so.

I tried the top-of-the-ledge, behind-the-church flank last night in my Cromwell and the gamble worked surprisingly well. The Reds had gone windmill and I was able to pull behind them. I was killed by a trailing T-43 I didn't see but not before killing two of my own and damaging their JPanther. Ended up winning by four tanks.

I've got news, the info on what might be coming in 1.8 and later this year, and a breakdown of the differences, strengths, and weaknesses of the two lines starting from the divergence all the way to tier X.
