Because of all things that needed a nerf, it was German tanks.
And meds totally needed buffs.
I'm seriously beginning to question WG's balancing philosophy. Or just ability to balance.
Guess I'm kind of glad I stopped at the Tiger II since I got bored of it.

Considering mediums are easier and more likely to YOLO die as most don't play them correctly, maybe WG saw the low survival stats of Mediums and wanted to "balance" them.

Most people that drive mediums suck, because they are not noob friendly. Most people on the forums are way above average, so they do better in mediums. Most medium drivers just get ripped to pieces when they get spotted.

yep, fighting mediums in heavies is hilarious
the only thing that is more fun is picking on artillery (but thats a whole different story)

I don't think the nerf is such a big deal. If anything, it helps balance a little the crew skills, which are much better for TDs and Heavies than for Meds.
The whole game design -small maps, small teams, short battle time- favors Heavies. A small nerf won't change that.

hmm, why don't we reduce the penetration and accuracy on TDs so we can balance them between heavies? oh and, that isn't a small nerf. removing top 1200 HP engine to 900 HP engine, increasing transverse speed instead to 26, then nerfing it down to 19, which is even slower then E100's transverse.

The engine change happened in the 1.5 update, as did the initial increase in traverse speed (from 16->26). Now it's 19, which is still better than it was pre-1.5. Clearly the developers thought that the initial increase was too much. So now they've "balanced" it back down to 19.

Yep, it's in the 1.5 Patch Notes. And the stock suspension was originally 14:
