Heard today some interesting story which tend to be a legit. I am not a lawyer hence cant confirm it but I am sure that some folks here could pitch in. Would love to know if it is true or not.

Basically, having in-game voice chat would open a gate for lawsuits agains WG regardless of player terms acceptance. Basically, WG would be responsible for providing a "perfect" tool to abuse other players on all levels.  How's that different than chat we have today? Not everybody pays attention what is written vs. everything said by one individual is  heard  by all and could provide additional ground for further abuse. Since capturing screen is way easier than capturing the whole video, WG is taking steps to ban players for undisclosed period of time based on reported screen shots. It is basically cya approach for them. In-game voice chat is different. Verbal abuse is a bit different?

To sum it, it seems to be a  legit to me :(, if so, it will never come to WoTB as on of the game features. Those who use it will have to continue to use TS or Mumble.

What do you think?

Attorney here. That is incorrect. That said, I hope they do not allow in-game or battle chat without allowing the option to turn it off.

Yeah, just having a product at all exposes WG to a ton of lawsuits, not necessarily meritorious or successful ones though. That is why I am sure they have a slew of attorneys who review their stuff and draft the strongest EULA, etc that they can and update it as necessary.

You don't need to be a lawyer to figure this one out.  Most multiplayer console games have voice chat...  Can't be all that big a deal to craft an EULA to protect from the perils of voice chat.

I have not been in any other multiplayer console games so far, hence  it looked legit to me. In the real life I have 3 lawyers working for me on full time basis and I had not guts to ask them about it :) They would make a fun of me. Better ask the question here.

I won't speak to the legality of this, but I will second the fact that voice chat (if ever implemented) should be optional.  I for one, would almost certainly mute that channel first thing... I see enough negativity in the current text based chat to make me realize that this is just a bad idea.

P.S. I'm not a stripper... Lol.

Which is exactly why most console games have that warning at the beginning that says ""Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB".  It warns those who intend to play the game online about possible exposure to chat (text, audio, video) that have not been considered in the ESRB rating assignment.

That said, I've played plenty of games online that have voice chat.  After experiencing the vitriol that Call of Duty and Gears of War users can spew out, I'm perfectly fine with Blitz NEVER getting that functionality.

When some trendy new atrocity has brought you to your knees

I would like a voice recognition thing so hat all I have to do is speak into the mic and it types it up in chat. That way we don't have to stop in the middle of a battle to type something out.

WHO NEEDS ARTY WHEN YOU’VE GOT RNG TO MAGICALLY SCREW YOU?

Unless i'm mistaken, the newer "Siri" capable iPhone and ipads should have this functionality...

I use it to Dictate Text messages on my Phone allll the time.

I play on an Older Ipad 2, and its not available there... so someone who plays on a new device would have to check this.

You Press the little microphone button on the left side of your keyboard and then just speak your words.

It works really well now on my phone... I love using it to type emails and text messages.

I actually want it. It would help more than it hurts, until the squeakers find out about it.
