Hi there fellow tankers, I will be writing a guide on the T1 heavy tank, my favorite tier 5 heavy tank.
The development of the T1 heavy tank had started in 1940 but was never mass produced. The T1 heavy tank was later used as the prototype for the M6 heavy tank.
The T1 heavy, in my opinion, is better than its counter-part, the KV-1. It has the mobility that the KV-1 lacks greatly while still having decent armor. The gun is one to be scared about. With great penetration and damage, it will plow through any lower tier tanks that try to grab that huge booty of yours. The T1 may look like a tank that has no armor, but more times than not, I find myself against 3-4 enemy tanks by myself and still coming on top and getting myself an easy top gun. You can bounce many shots from the front of the tank - if you angle it correctly. Don't be worried if you get flanked, you can turn very fast and face the enemy that had flanked you just seconds ago. If you find yourself in a situation where there are tanks to all sides of you, try and get yourself against a wall or corner and shoot away. Don't be afraid to take damage because you have so much HP to spare and the tanks you usually face are tier 4s like the D.M. 2 which will find it hard to penetrate you from the from and sometimes the sides.
Research order:
Top gun --> Tracks --> First engine --> M6 --> Second engine
or
Top gun --> Tracks --> First engine --> Second engine --> M6
I used the first research order when I was grinding my T1 heavy. The gun is super important when it comes to the T1 heavy. Without the top gun, the tank isn't nearly as good as it could be. Mobility isn't as important than the firepower on this tank. What I found was that the T1 didn't need the last engine to be mobile and getting the M6 first was better. After getting the M6, I went back to the T1 and finished the engine. You should not be wasting xp earned on the M6 to buy the engine because its available on the T1 heavy and you should use the xp for the guns on the M6. The second research order also works. If you don't want the T1 heavy anymore after you research the M6, then get the second engine before. This engine is crucial whether you research it before your M6 or after. The tracks are very important as they increase the traverse speed of your tank. I get this before the engines because its cheaper and is a much better buy than the engine.
Play style
How I recommend playing the T1 heavy is to be the frontline heavy that every team needs. The tank that deals more damage than it soaks. The T1 can win a 3v1 but only if you can play it correctly, and of course they cant all be KV-1s that just rush you. Once you get to know the power of the T1, you will know what you can win and what you cant. When your in the T1 heavy, I recommend going to the cap on maps where you have a lot of cover such as Middleburg. There you can destroy any opposition while taking minimal damage. The T1 is very mobile which means you can always take a longer route and flank the enemy, which is what I do on some maps. Don't be afraid of the enemy in this beast of a tank. I usually just rush straight to where I can meet the enemy so I can get the most damage out and get the big xp knowing that I won't get destroyed.
Consumables
I am pretty rich on World of Tanks Blitz so I run Adrenaline, Multi-Purpose Restoration Pack and the Case of Cola. Adrenaline you to shoot faster and survive and out trade the enemy. The Multi-Purpose Restoration Pack allows you to repair damaged modules several times, including fires, over the course of the battle which really helps. The Cola grants 10% to all crew skills and perks which is also helpful to give you an edge on your enemy.
If you aren't too rich and just want consumables that can get you through a battle, pick up the Fire extinguisher, Repair kit and the First Aid Kit. This is the default set-up for consumables.
Equipment
- Gun Rammer
- Laying Drive
- Last one your choice
The gun rammer is an essential to any heavy tank. It allows you to fire much quicker which allows you to deal out more damage and get more of that cash cash monayyy. The laying drive helps you with aiming since the aiming time for the top gun isn't that fast. The last item could be anything you want but I don't bother with the third equipment.
I hope this guide has helped those T1 drivers that need assistance or have inspired those to give the big bottomed heavy a try!
Leave any suggestions for what to add to this guide and ill do my best to add it. Any feedback is also welcomed, good or bad!
I sincerely thank you for reading my guide.
