Upgrading Level 8 Pershing to Level 9 Patton is great, but there is no incentive when it come to firepower. 4 guns for your new Patton Tank, that are purchased with experience, have firepower and penetration that are less than or equal to the level 8 Pershing's gun. That's 4/5 guns that are no better than the best gun for the Pershing tank. The 5 gun, or V if you're from Rome, has a penetration of 40-66, which means you can't penetrate a box of donuts. Both 7 guns are lower in penetration down 20 and down 8 from the best gun on the Pershing you left behind. Finally, the 8 gun is equal, yes equal, to the Pershing's best gun. You'd think a better tank would come with better equipment; nay, it just comes with frustration while dealing low damage to enemy tanks. Just make sure if you have plenty of gold to buy armor piercing rounds.

Don't have the Pershing or either of the Pattons so can't help here.

Most players still research as many modules as they can because they want to get the tank to Elite status.

You wouldn't believe how tough a box of donuts can be especially if they are Dunkin Donuts that have been left out for a few days

I'll have to research this elite status business, and try to leave a box of DD out for a few days without eating them :)

Elite status is essentially you have researched all modules of the tank and have researched the next tank in the line. If you do this, your tank is "Elite status," meaning all experience you gain in the tank can be converted to free experience using gold.

Please don't try it, you won't be able to open the box and you definitely will not be able to punch a hole in it with a tank shell

What are you even talking about? Most of those guns are already researched from previous tanks. You don't have to purchase any of them. You start out with the top gun from the Pershing, then research the 105 (long barrel not the derp) which is an excellent gun, much better than anything the Pershing has.

Indeed.  There are only 2 guns that are not unlocked already when you purchase the M46 Patton:

I don't think you're looking at the same M46 Patton that we are.  The 105 mm Gun T5E1M2 blows away the Pershing's top gun in every category except accuracy.  It has 144% the DPM of the Pershing's top gun with 21% more penetration.

You can purchase APCR with credits, you know that, right?

Use the AP CR shells if you have enough credits for both 90mm and 105mm. Don't use the 105mm M4, unless you're very good at flanking, or can afford HEAT. Get the 105mm T5E1M2. It's the best gun for the M46, and it will lead you directly to M48.

Yesterday, my nephew showed me that you can purchase them with credits :) thanks. Wish I knew that like 3 months ago.

Thank you for the responses. The one good gun to upgrade to is indeed the 105. I guess I just didn't understand the need for having the other guns if you already purchased them. I guess they are keeping things realistic i.e. during the war, they used interchangeable guns for different tanks. As a gamer, I just looked at this situation as more guns I had to get through and use experience which takes more time to get to a more useful gun i.e. The 105.

But see, it's not.  All but 2 of the guns on the Patton are already unlocked before you ever buy the Patton itself.
