I know my battery has run out on me and I didn't intentionally afk.

To be honest, that would be your fault. It might not have been intentional, but a player is responsible for the battery life on their devices. When my devices are below 10%, I charge them. I would not join a game or do anything important with my device, if I only had a few percent left in battery life.

As soon as this comes to the NA server, I'll be reporting everybody that I see! This is great! I do not care if life situations happen. I do not care if you have to change the diaper on your baby. I do not care what your excuse is. If you believe that there is a possibility that you might have to leave the match, then do not enter any match to begin with! Otherwise, you must suffer the consequences for your actions and your violations of the rules!

I would love to see dads and moms get penalized. "Dads" and "moms" are no more special than anybody else, and the rules should apply equally for everybody. If somebody commits a crime, then they can't stand in front of the judge and say "Well, your honor, I am a dad". Who cares! I say punish them all!

And yet you wonder why there are people here who don't like you very much...

News flash: Going AFK to take care of a crying baby is not "committing a crime".  In fact, NOT taking care of that crying baby IS committing a crime!

Everybody crashes once in a while. But I'm not sure this policy will hit many players who crash after the battle has started. According to the announcement, the hammer is falling on "Players who are inactive in battle" if there is "clear evidence" in the form of screenshots of offenders "in the same spot at two different timings." I assume the different timings would mean at least a minute or so apart.

As a practical matter, most potential reporters are going to be too busy to be snapping pics of teammates -- at least, those who have  moved from spawn. And if you've moved off spawn and crash, you're likely blown up in short order. So the vast majority of reports should be of the never-ever-moved variety. Throw in the built-in discretion of WG staff (who have no interest in penalizing anyone who's at least trying) to grant clemency along with the progressive penalty system, and this sounds like a good deal.

My charger was in, I just didnt realize it had a bad wire. I put it in when I got the 10% notification and it started charging. Then at some point it either stopped or was draining faster than it was charging. You don't have all the answers bro, stop acting like you know everything about everything. It truly gets annoying.

I'm entitled to offer my opinions just as much as anybody else, and besides, the final solution isn't for me to decide, that's for WG to decide, and this is currently being tested on the Asia server. I will continue to offer my opinions here as much as I want.

99.9% of the time I am in the game and paying full antention took to it. The other .1% is simply unavoidable. For example, the other day my battery died right as the game was starting. On top of a 90% chance of losing that game, I really don't want to be banned for a day because I couldn't get to my charger fast enough. I think an Afk punishment system is a wonderful idea. But we should make sure the system doesn't punish the guys who Afk once in a blue moon. Instead, make sure the system is very effective at punishing serial afkers.

I support you in being a good dad every time. If I am in the match I will do my best to carry harder. The people I want to see punished are the:

1. "oh no low tier again...bye!"

2. "I am going to afk my way to tier X"

3. "Enemy has more high tier, no fair I'm leaving!"

So to report an afk one person in that game will have to snap two screenies of the same afk? You are just making more distractions for this already watered down game. Matchmaking is fine as you all say. No need to pinish afk guys. Its all a part of the game to game "challenge" so many refer to.

Tank Terminators

Message me for invites if you wish. 50% or higher win ratios tier 8 and up.

The problem is that those serial AFKers will all of a sudden all have multiple kids to take care of, and who knows what other excuses they will think of. They will all lie, and WG is not going to give polygraph tests to every serial AFKer.

Asia must have had a more significant AFK issue than North America. A ban for one AFK is not reasonable. The issue is with serial AFK and it should not be hard to weed that group out. Punish them, curb the behaviour.

The point is that parents won't be serial AFK'ers, only those types of players will be. Parents dont jump out every game. The point is that those who are not serial shouldn't be punished. Like my example with the charger (now replaced). I hated that I did that to my team. In an e100 no less! So I went out and got another charger cable because I can't let my team down again. (we won thank God, my toonmate Hadoryuken carried harder)

I've never played on the Asian server and I've never been on the Asian forum, but I think that this just shows that the AFK issue is a totally legitimate issue that needed to be fixed and it has cropped up on multiple continents, affecting multiple servers. There have been a ton of posts on this NA forum about AFK players, and I can only assume that the same has been happening on the Asian forum. I would say that the problem is definitely significant and severe on the NA server too. AFK players are frequently found in many matches here.

Also, as somebody else pointed out above, the worst serial AFKers and various other rule violators in this game are also very likely to be serial liars.

You'll make an excellent parent one day.

Yes it is my fault, but do I really deserve to be banned the rest of the day? And if it happens again in several months, 3 days? I hate losing just as much as the next guy, but there are times when life overrules a game, or when I just forgot to check my battery.

I am certain that I would, should I ever choose to acquire any offspring or whiny kids. I do know that I would not use them as an excuse for my non participation in a game, and I would be willing to accept the consequences for my actions.

I'm not sure about exactly what rules WG is going to implement, but I don't think that they are going to ban somebody for being AFK just once. The problem is obviously serial AFKers. If somebody is AFK once on a monday, then that's not a huge issue. I do recognize that things do sometimes happen.

But, let's say that somebody is AFK three times on that same monday! Then nope, sorry, I do not care what their excuse is. Battery, kids, blah blah blah. That player should definitely be punished, because that just means that they are being irresponsible and rude to all of their teammates.

I agree with this 100%. WG has made it clear that this is simply being tested in Asia and that it may be changed before being implemented on the NA server if at all. I think the general opinion on here is that 1 Afk every month or so should not accumulate into a two week ban over time.
