Uh. Okay. Here's the thing people. I have amazing internet connection and it does not drop. HOWEVER, my device will freeze and I usually have to restart the game and join. This has happened probably 3/10 games. It's very frustrating when I am a top tier vehicle and I have the "command stick" and lead my team. How embarrassing. Also, my grandmother arrived and is staying for 2 years until she goes back to Los Angeles. She's 76 years old, she can fall, she can't hold stuff heavy, to the people who said, do it before hand/they won't die of hunger, well, I don't think I can say, Hey grandma, wait like 5 minutes, I have to play a GAME and I'll help you pick up the laundry or help you move around the stairs. If you can, something is messed up. It's too harsh. There has to be exceptions. Such as an afk tanker being controlled by a destroyed one, or if you  haven't moved SINCE THE START.

WG stated in the news that it will be taken on a case by case basis.  If you're not a serial AFKer I doubt you have anything to worry about.  And like everything else the policy can be nerfed or buffed.

Trackbomb i hope all goes well with your Grandmother!  I like your idea of respawning AFK vehicles.

Question for programmers; is that at all possible? At a certain piont in gameplay can someone who is destroyd but still overlooking the game take contol of the AFK tank? Would they have to have the tank in their garage?

Question for all; does anyone else like Trackbombs excellent suggestion?

I kinda don't approve of this, this game can get quite crash heavily at times and that would definitely cause AFK issues (ask all the 4s and iPad 2 users).

Just worried that punishment is so severe. When I travel (which is lot) my wifi can be sketchy, sometimes it's working great, then locked up or crash, come back to smoking ruin. Just afraid legit interruptions will result in bans.

I agree this might be a bit harsh.  Iam sure there are other means WG can monitor Afk players.  Like in halo if you leave a lobby or quit a match (I forget). There is a time punishment. Like 5mins. Although that might be a bit small.  I wouldn't mind seeing a credit punishment to be honest. Some how implement it so Afk players can avoid it.  Say a -10k credit.

But if wg can find a way to fix it.  Sure I pledge to buy a basic kit

Really should petition the high ping. This is also a phone based game we get phone calls in the middle of battles to ban a player just because he answered his phone is awfully silly some gamers be so petty. Wanna petition for a ban on something right you local congressmen and get a repeal on taxes [edited]petty gamers

I'll petition what I want and you can petition what you want.  And I won't post on it about how you should be petitioning for something else cuz that would be petty.

Quick update: We're collecting and analyzing the data from the Asia deployment of the policy. We will let the community know when this will be rolled out in NA.

As stated by WG it will be taken on a case by case basis.  If you are not a serial AFKer you have little to fear.

Nice, so now I get punished each time Blitz kicks out of the map loading screen like it has three times tonight on my iPad mini?  If this is implemented the game better be rock-solid when they start the policy.  And, BTW the camels that carry the internet packets across the desert here in Saudi some times get lost or stop at an oasis resulting in internet downtime at worst or lost packets at best.  .get ut, lost camels, lost packets  . . ..  .. oh, never mind.

Until you remove support for older devices (iphones with A4-A5 chips and some older andriod devices) I don't think this should be a thing. This game can crash alot on older devices. Also a case by case basis yeah how long that going to take. Also if this does come out i think that the players ping and device should be looked at to and there stats.

To be honest i dont think its too harsh depending on HOW it is enforced.

Example #1. 2 Players get tickets sent in Player 1 only gets a couple per week tops but spends most of his time playing and is clearly an active player who gets the occasional call, loss of service whatever war gaming ignores him and nothing happens.

Player 2 on the otherhand gets several tickets daily has low overall damage xp ect ect (more so then a normal lower win rate player) and is obviously afking on a pretty regular basis and gets the tiered bans.

Example 1 is good implimentation of the rules.

Example #2 2 players, Player 1 loses his connection and causes a loss, angry unicum submits ticket, player 1 is banned.

Player 2 is afk entire match gets a ticket sent in and is bamned also.

Example 2 does not work.

Tbh im more in favor of a tiered punishment system that steps you down after an hour or 2 but hurts true afkers or bots bad, for example first afk and/or 0 damage nothing happens, second one 100 credits, 3rd 1000 credits, 4th 10000 credits, 5th 100,000 credits, 6th takes 1 week to step back down to credits and is 1 day ban, if back to 6th again it is now a 3 day ban, if 6th again it is now a 1 week ban, if 6th yet again it is a month ban, and if you go to 6th yet again it is a perm ban now.

If your unlucky a few games in a row no prob you get a slap on the wrist and in an hour or 2 all is forgiven and your out a couple games worth of credits tops, if your constantly afk this hurts bots like crazy as no more credit income and they start getting banned pretty quick.

Not a prefect solution but a more fair one i think.

How about another poll option? STFU and get a life. I'm guessing it would be a runaway winner.

Once all the bugs are gone from the game then they can start penalizing for afk violations! How many times have you been frozen and can't move or the game flat out quits mid battle?  Happens all the time. I've had time where my tank just does what it wants! It's bad enough there are malicious comets when any glitches come between you a and sweet victory!!! That my friends is punishment enough! Why don't we focus on  joining Brad Pitt in his quest to have only free range chicken at our grocers and leave well enough alone. There have been many time that the reds concentrate on a afk player and the good guys win anyway.

Happy Hunting my friends!

I'll be very interested to hear whether or not it has actually helped anything. Asking people to manually report afk players, and having staff manually review those reports, is pretty inefficient and a very outdated way to deal with the problem. But hey, if it works, it works.

Still, you'd be better off just hiring some programmer to write an afk-detection script.
