That one actually does seem reasonably smart; take an enemy tank out of the game to give your remaining guy a 1-vs-2 instead of a 1-vs-3...

So, in one of my first few "honeymoon" games in my Chi-Ri, I got middleburg.  Standard operating procedure, call out "all hill," and move out to engage the enemy.

Most of the team Affirmatives, and we roll out.

I'm slow, so I take a relatively cover heavy spot... next thing I know my team is dead, and I'm surrounded by Reds... all while being the only one capable of shooting at enemy tanks...  We had a decent amount of top tier mediums, so I was a bit curious what was going on.

Apparently they took up far better positions with more heavy cover, and were "watching the flank."

Spoiler

I realize it's hard to count the Red dots because they are so close together, but that's all seven there.  None left for the flank.  The TD, who was also covering the City Flank had that on lock down as well.

Truth be told, they both did their part well.  No one got by on the flank.  The main front however seemed to struggle.

Today I went to the bathroom and forgot my phone.

There are 256 tiles in the bathroom...

This was not in the first few days of Mirage's existence:

They all started with the lemming train, but stopped on the bridge when the fighting started. It was over about a minute after this.

Why is perching on top of a hill -- just to get blown to bits -- such an appealing experience that so many feel compelled to repeat?  I.e., why is dying this way (repeatedly) so much fun for so many?  I just can't get my head around it.

The sad thing here is that this guy wasn't AFK -- as you can see, he hits "Affirmative" in the middle of these screenshots.

Right after I took the last screenshot, he backed up into a swarm of 5 reds, who finished him off in just about the same number of shots.  And, the fact that this sort of gameplay is becoming "normal" to see...

Spoiler

And then there's this....

I expect the law of averages will kick in by 25 or 50 games.  :sceptic:

I'd hope that at some point he'd discover that you can't shoot red tanks through boulders....

This was a frustrating one.

Looks bad enough at first, right? Camping IS7 on Mines, mashing the SOS button for no reason. But that's not the real tragedy. Look closer!

You can just make out the two mediums (out of the four we had to start with), not on the hill! We had a medium advantage in the game, and the STA-1 flanked, and the Patton...just diddled around.

These are from the same battle:

These guys have watched too many John Woo movies:

Mines brings out the courage (and the inner sniper) in everyone. This was a KV-2 Platoon, by the way:

In fairness, the Type-62 Dragon can do very well as a sniper, but he could have been a little more ambitious in his choice of sniper perch:

This game is going to kill me, one day. Have I mentioned that?
