I can't remember if I paid for the ap on ipad2 or not- given that I already have a server setup for DCSW I didn't think I'd need it... not sure about others? I don't recall what the app costs- but if others can benefit then thanks! Come to think about it, I think I snagged it when it first came out- I think it was free for a short time.

I know TS3 better on PC- and in PC anyone can create temporary channels... I just haven't tried to do that on iOS version.

The idea would be to treat the Firehouse / Triarii TS3 Server as a gamer lobby so guys can head off with those who are available... or chat or whatever. If everyone started their own TS3 servers for individual games we'd lose that opportunity. At least, from my perspective.

Well, I mean I can give everyone the TS3 app if they need it. I personally don't use it often as I like PC better. But for those who don't want to sit at their computers or have some other problem with it, could use the TS3 app and not have to pay for it.

I could give the info to you and you could hand it out to those who need it. I'm already dealing with a bunch of clan stuff both in-game and on the forums.

On  another note, I posted in another thread but didn't get any answer so I got impatient and went to look for it myself.

The question was about armor models- I've seen these multi coloured models showing heavy / thick armor etc and couldn't figure out the source. Anyway, I found it- and it's brilliant!

http://gamemodels3d.com/worldoftanks/   (Whoops- seems some of this content requires 5$ registration... which judging by the detail available seems fair enough.)

Take a look in there for those of you who didn't know about it already (I am new, after all!)- might help give some insights on how to fight your unit or take one to the enemy!

The graphic you want, once you get to your choice tank of interest, is "armor model."

You're only as old as you feel. Sign me up for the Triarii Clan.  I seriously hope Blitz opens up Clans and takes time to develop it into a voice chat support app in the future.

Thirty-nine here. Been playing for about a month and have definitely noticed the pattern. I haven't read The Art of War, but thank you OP for putting into words and context what I've started to notice. I also almost always seek to be the C'hi instead of Cheng, but will transition at times.

Brilliant thread.

I'm almost always in a tricked-out M4 Sherman. Love that thing.

cheers,

It's not so good on PC so I think it might be even worse on Blitz, I honestly think that any voice communication software is better than in-game voice.

Okay- Teamspeak3 information for now...

Server: firehouse.no-ip.biz
PW: fire safety

Just join the TRIARII CLAN channel for now. I don't expect much traffic on the DCSW side since the server is down for now.

Let's get things started on an informal level. I have to run out now but if anyone gets a chance to get in there and try it out let us know how it works!

I'm the same- but without comms and coordination it's tough to make a clean break for it once you've encountered the enemy's Cheng. Typically you roll over a hill and blunder into 3-4 guys... once once of them sees you EVERYONE sees you so there's no chance to camouflage. You're left having to slug it out while a bunch of already dead trolls call you an idiot.

About that site, I noticed most tiers up to VII are covered without having to pay so it's still useful. Definitely worth a look since it really highlights the spots to protect and the ones to expose.

I'm 63 and feel like 18 when I play. Tons of fun but my wife hates me when I'm playing a'kids game' ...oh well...I'll have to sneak it I guess...LOL

I play on  iphone and to the right of the BATTLE button I'm accumulating silver upgrades. How do you use them? I'm baffled. Thanks

Silver is for buying stuff.  Click on your ammo and will open up the shop.  You can buy consumables and equipment.  I got a toddler at home with one in the oven so I mainly play during work breaks and at home when I can.  Catch alot of flak from the wife though

Yes, I went and bought binocs and repair kit and when I looked at the total amount of silver to the right of the battle button, it didn't change..???

There are a number of sites I believe you can look at armor models. Tank inspector is one you can download for PC that although I haven't used it I have seen it in use a number of times. It shows models color coded with armor thickness. It can also show you adjusted thickness depending on the angle a shot would come in plus many more things. Also for android there is a world of tanks knowledge database app, not the war gaming app, that has color coded models with armor thickness. Although the above mentioned programs are designed around all the tanks in wot PC it should be accurate for blitz.

Adding on, the only thing that would be different is gun statistics and some traverse and speed changes.

Sorry- what does OP mean? ie: That tank is pretty OP-

Also, dug up this little tidbit I'm not sure how to interpret?

:Tier 8: IS-3 - IS-3 is a nightmare to find in battle if you don't have the penetration to hit without gold rounds, thankfully a lot of players have no idea how a pike nose works and therefore expose their frontal armor a lot.

Here is another link for armor and targeting:

http://www.worldoftanksguide.com/cgi-bin/tank_analyzer.cgi

ok.  I am a bad IS-3 driver.  Really bad.   I went 0-10 in my first ten matches in it trying different things.  Here is what they are talking about though.  On a Tiger II, for instance, you want to point the "corner" of your tank at your opponent, thus increasing the effective thickness of your armor. The "square" tanks can bounce a lot this way.

A pike nose is already angled.  If you angle the tank you are potentially reducing thickness by presenting a flatter target.  So for the IS-3 you want to face a single target straight on, rather than angled.  Multiple attackers become an issue, but hey multiple attackers are an issue.  The tank is also very low so that being below an attacker can also be not so great because it flattens the slope on the armor.   Decent turret, but hard to find spots for hull down.

It's often called a "brawler" and I want it to be that.  What I am finding is that in most cases this is not exactly true ( for me at least). The real strength seems to be its mobility and top gun.  I am still upgrading for top engine.

The IS-3 also seems to be a good side scraper, which surprised me.

I feel certain much more experienced IS-3 drivers will have more useful things to say.

Thanks Nak- I thought it would be more difficult to find on google but I was surprised how many people are critical of those who don't know how to benefit from a piked nose. Suffice to say there is a bit of description of it out there- but I also wanted to get that conversation started since I think a bunch of us are learning at the same rate.

And about OP: It is truly amazing me how much I can google!

On an additional note- I did add 4 war rooms in the channel and left the "lobby" so that guys can congregate in there and go into respective matches.
