Dear WG,

Thank you for an awesome update that added clans, fixed buggy friends list, and made Oasis Palms a good map.

However, please consider returning Rockfield to be playable at any tier. The reasoning to limit lower tiers to few maps is understandable - new players just learn basic tank controls and tactics and might not need too much map variety. Plus, getting to higher tiers is another incentive for them as they get access to more maps.

In last patch, Rockfield was removed from Tiers VIII-X due to high view ranges of some tanks that sort of screwed up gameplay on this small map. But let's see the numbers:

  • View range on tier VII mediums (T20, Panther II, T-43) that are allowed on Rockfield - 260m
  • View range that is higher than 260m is only on Centrution 7/1, FV4202, M46, E50M, Leo 1 (265m) and M48 (270m) (yes, 6 out of ~50 tanks available at tier VIII-X)

Next, most (if not all) good players play above tier VIII and mostly IX-X. Hence, they are intentionally cut out of this map due to additional 5 meters of view range of some tanks that would not make THAT difference compared to "allowed" 260m (trust me, I have played every tanks I'm talking about). If that was reasonable, then Copperfield should be banned too - M48 with optics (297m VR combined) can spot from the one side to another easily.

Maybe Rockfield is not perfectly balanced, but nor some other maps are. We are used to that and we take it. More maps = more fun -> more happy players open their wallets.

Dear Wargaming, please weigh how many games and players roll higher tiers and reconsider returning Rockfield to be available again.

Regards,

Static2k [SRT]

I agree, Rockfield is a fun map.  It makes no sense to me to limit the map to certain tiers. In my opinion, when a map is changed, it just makes players try new tactics or adjust.  This was clearly seen when Oasis Palms got its first adjustment by moving the location of the cap, it greatly changed the play of the map and strategy, and all tiers had to adjust.

Bring back Rockfield please!!

Yeah, that was clearly a bug, that got fixed shortly after. Rockfield is limited intentionally today...

Either make it accessible for all tiers or make a new map for higher tiers. Deal?

I'll miss rockfield.  I enjoyed a defensive map that favored well timed judicious flanking.  Now they messed it all up, AND I'll never see it.  Oh well

Guys, you can see Rockfield whenever you like (well, 1/11th of the times you like) by playing Tier VII or below. Trust me, there is fun to be had.

I do feel they went a bit overboard with the Agent Orange on that map, though…

Lower tiers are not as fun as 8-10... That's the problem...

Not so much bug as several people sleeping on the job. lol. Lot of people think I'm crazy, but I actually think the balanced (current) version of the LTP is more fun than the unbalance troll mistake from PC.

Easily my worst map, I hated going on the hill where the bushes obscured everything and going below the hill was suicide. Not only that it was just a boring map.  I'm not a fan of Winter Malnikova either, but that is because it is so predictable.

No... Rockfield was stale. Everyone rush the bunker and trade shots while the heavies on you team attempt a flank and get mowed down in the lower part by the cap! next thing I know I am the last tank! Good riddance!

The map is boring plain and simple. It's a fight for the second bunker and the causeway every time. Then you simply time your flank while everyone is occupied. The entire map was like fighting at the bridge on Falls Creek. It didn't matter which side your team was on, the battle followed the same tempo.

I dislike the new Oasis Palms much more than the new Rockfield. As far as I have observed nothing has changed of Rockfield and its heavy reliance on brawling.

I absolutely HATE the new Oasis Palms, though. Enemies shooting into the cap have way too much in the way of cover while the cap is now out in the open. The corner hill is gone, which was I place I enjoyed brawling at. The ridges are less steep, which means more chances for the enemy to hide, and less opportunity for side shots across the map with Russian guns. It does make for better brawling on that side, though.

All of the things you mentioned are *good* things.  Capping should be a last resort, not a primary strategy.  Anybody trying to cap while there are still several red tanks left deserves to be caught in the open and shot.

The old Oasis Palms had 2 fields of battle: the SE hill and the NW dunes.  That was it.  Mediums would usually rush to the SE hill and slug it out there while the Heavies would lumber over to the NW dunes and have their own slugfest there.  TDs would typically camp at spawn.  That was the way EVERY battle went on the old map.  The new Oasis Palms has many many many more battle options.  It's night-and-day better than the old one.

I agree. Bring it back. And while you are at it... bring back the last version of Oasis Palms also. It wasn't THAT bad. I would love to be able to see both versions.
