Dear WG,
Thank you for an awesome update that added clans, fixed buggy friends list, and made Oasis Palms a good map.
However, please consider returning Rockfield to be playable at any tier. The reasoning to limit lower tiers to few maps is understandable - new players just learn basic tank controls and tactics and might not need too much map variety. Plus, getting to higher tiers is another incentive for them as they get access to more maps.
In last patch, Rockfield was removed from Tiers VIII-X due to high view ranges of some tanks that sort of screwed up gameplay on this small map. But let's see the numbers:
- View range on tier VII mediums (T20, Panther II, T-43) that are allowed on Rockfield - 260m
- View range that is higher than 260m is only on Centrution 7/1, FV4202, M46, E50M, Leo 1 (265m) and M48 (270m) (yes, 6 out of ~50 tanks available at tier VIII-X)
Next, most (if not all) good players play above tier VIII and mostly IX-X. Hence, they are intentionally cut out of this map due to additional 5 meters of view range of some tanks that would not make THAT difference compared to "allowed" 260m (trust me, I have played every tanks I'm talking about). If that was reasonable, then Copperfield should be banned too - M48 with optics (297m VR combined) can spot from the one side to another easily.
Maybe Rockfield is not perfectly balanced, but nor some other maps are. We are used to that and we take it. More maps = more fun -> more happy players open their wallets.
Dear Wargaming, please weigh how many games and players roll higher tiers and reconsider returning Rockfield to be available again.
Regards,
