Ok, I must report myself (no wonder I am a Tater-in-waiting) for a completly unspudman camping potato frier conduct (and get on the bragging potato train to lower the pressure on Stealth). I had this game today where I got that golden M along with a Pool and a Kolobanov to boot. Feels good to move from my camping site by the lighthouse on mines...........

Greetings taters! Just wanted to say hi to my fellow spuds, and also say that I too am happy to platoon with anyone anytime you see me on. Check me out on wotbstars to see my dirty wallet warrior's garage for compatible tanks.
I also wanted to thank tinmanic for the invite to platoon last night. I think we won about 50%, carried hard in a few, spudded it up in a few! It was fun. If anyone else is like me, and hasn't really played a lot of platoon games, i highly recommend it. It's not only fun, but also confidence inspiring!
Hope to see you on the battlefield soon, im on 7 days anytime after 2:00pm Pacific weekdays, and sporadically from 4:00am onwards on the weekends.
Good Hunting o7. YNWA. (See profile pic!)

Great suggestions, guys, on what to do when one ends up being the Lone Hill-charger.  Some of those were already in my playbook, but many weren't, so I've now mentally added the new-to-me ones you've suggested.  Thanks!

Whenever I end up being alone on the hill with everyone on both teams ignoring me, I can't help but have this song pop into my head....

Yes! I love this song! Tho I end up with that dang Whitesnake song "Here I go again on my oowwnn!" In my head when I'm soloing the Mines hill LOL

Nice game! The Tiger's a bit tough to do well in. Keep it off the front lines, sides scrape, snipe and even short flank and you'll do well in it. The Tiger P is more forgiving with its troll frontal armor should you decide to go that route.

Thank you guys ! The Tiger P is my favorite tank but strangely, I get most of my epic medals with the Tiger I. The Tiger I is a heavium : It has good speed, a great gun, good turret armor but a very weak non-angled frontal armor. The gun is very precise so, yes, you can snipe with it. The side armor is good and sidescrapping works well. The turret would make it a good hull down tank but, the hatch is a major soft spot. You have to wiggle to protect it. Like Psyberius mentions, the Tiger P is more forgiving and can be used as front line if angled correctly.

Gents: A report from the Front Lines....

First, thanks to those of you who were kind enough to platoon and help with my stock M46. My level of contribution to the team was essentially ranked between "boat anchor" and "useless".

Second, a few observations.  The M46 is rather less than intimidating when mostly stock and in my hands.  I have ground all preceding US mediums to 50% plus and generally view myself as a medium driver. That being said, I have thus far been grossly incompetent in this thing.  My Pershing tactics are useless, this turret is penned by harsh language.  T20 style?  Nope, tried that, too slow and the Russian Race Cars will win that every time.

I have been killed in this thing with stunning regularity.  Got COD by a team of Comets.  Got COD by T62.  Got COD by IS7- yes an IS7!  Couldn't turn my turret fast enough once tracked to even hit him.  Then... The Coup d' Grace... COD by T54/54 platoon back to back... to back... to back.

Put the smoking wreckage in the garage and contemplated some options.... mostly rage-induced ones.

In the end... I took the capitalist point of view.  Wargaming got 20 bucks and the steaming pile is now a fully upgraded M46.  So now, the only thing wrong with it is the idiot in the drivers seat.

Now I no longer will have the "stock tank" excuse. It is currently sitting in the back of the garage, under a cover, with a trickle charger hooked up.  All I need now is motivation...

See you out there.  Probably not in the Patton... Yet.

Regards, SCH

Disagree.  I couldn't drive the Tiger P to save my life.  The Tiger seemed more forgiving to me.  Again, probably more a driver problem then a tank problem.

I have no problem with Canadians other than calling ham -> bacon.  You guys have to knock that off.  Bacon is amazing and deserves all the recognition it gets.  It's meat candy.

I would also like to point out that I'm pretty freak'n close to Canada.  I live in the Frozen Tundra.  Go Pack.  (I even talk like a Canadian.  Whenever we go on trips, people ask if my family and I are from Canada.  Very similar dialect.)

In other news, I've got a shiny new T-54 researched.  I've got enough credit to buy it, but then if I loose a battle in any tank I'll be in the Red... So I've held off.  I'm gonna be credit grinding like mad here, and then I'll be ready to fire up the T-54 wolf pack if anyone is interested.  I already retired my T-44.  It's been gone less then an hour and I miss it.  No Russian medium in my garage makes it feel so empty.

Today I went to the bathroom and forgot my phone.

There are 256 tiles in the bathroom...

I grew up in and spent most of my life in S.E. Michigan, about a half hour drive from Windsor. Back in the 80s the drinking age was 19, my friends and I spent many nights at the casino and the "Windsor Ballet"...

Oh no, the Canadian invasion is underway. I grew up in New England and spent some time around Moosehead Lake in Maine which has enough beautiful forest and lake to pretend to be Canada.

A modest proposal regarding this thread:

In a way, we are stretching a thread beyond its normal capabilities but we are making it work for now. However, I suggest we try to use spoilers for pictures and when quoting posts cut any pictures not in spoilers. If anyone is unfamiliar with spoilers, it is the icon on the second level of icons available when composing posts - it looks like a piece of paper. Now, the forum can be unwieldy and even your best attempt can end up formatted poorly. I know I have issues with the forum software bumping my text and mishandling quote blocks.

On a related note, do we think we might eventually want a simple forum space of our own. There are some free forum opportunities and some that are inexpensive. If we chose that route we could have a SPUD only section but possibly have a few public sections as well. The issue of concern is in keeping it moderated if it is open to anyone that registers.

I'd hate to abandon the forums, they gave us life after all...

"Pulling out" like some of the other clans seem to have is splintering the community, and reducing our chance to be a positive force in the world.

(ok, that last part might be a bit of an exaggeration :-)

And if anybody is considering the T25 - even though it's only got a 47%WR on wotbstars, so far for me it just rocks!  Not sure what I'm going to have to do to get an M though.
