Furicle, there would be no need nor desire for any SPUD to abandon this forum. What would be accomplished is to have a better format to communicate or set up and explain platoon stuff or just general bullcrapping.

 

As far as the T-25, I owned it before the minor buff and was horrible in it. User error was a factor but I struggled with all the speed loss in turns and the meh gun. Glad you like it because a fast premium can be a great break to regular gameplay.

A modest proposal regarding this thread:

 

In a way, we are stretching a thread beyond its normal capabilities but we are making it work for now. However, I suggest we try to use spoilers for pictures and when quoting posts cut any pictures not in spoilers. If anyone is unfamiliar with spoilers, it is the icon on the second level of icons available when composing posts - it looks like a piece of paper. Now, the forum can be unwieldy and even your best attempt can end up formatted poorly. I know I have issues with the forum software bumping my text and mishandling quote blocks.

 

On a related note, do we think we might eventually want a simple forum space of our own. There are some free forum opportunities and some that are inexpensive. If we chose that route we could have a SPUD only section but possibly have a few public sections as well. The issue of concern is in keeping it moderated if it is open to anyone that registers.

And if anybody is considering the T25 - even though it's only got a 47%WR on wotbstars, so far for me it just rocks!  Not sure what I'm going to have to do to get an M though.

I agree and have been thinking the same.  I'm also torn b/c I don't want to leave the forums.  The entire forum's structure has been a challenge for me to find content buried within multi-subject threads. The blog format is ok for single subject conversations, but I would really prefer a wiki format, at least for tactics and other specific subjects that we may need to find later and build upon.

Another Canadian here!

I am actually on vacation in St. Andrews, New Brunswick atm, about 20 min or less away from Maine. Beautiful part of the world other than the less then stellar wifi. I tried to play the other day and had a low of 400 ping and a high of 35-40 fps.

 

I also have a shiny new T-54 sitting in the garage without a single scratch on it yet, just need to grind some free xp to upgrade the at least one module on it before I take her out for a spin. 

I am planning to go engine, tracks, turret then the obj 140 gun. Thoughts?

 

A T-54 wolf pack sounds like it would be a bunch of fun.

It should really be easier than it is, way to many steps. It took me forever to get it done correctly the first time.

Firstly, you'll need to upload your image to imgur.com. Once it's uploaded to imgur, you'll need to select "Direct Link" of the pic on imgur, copy the link and then do the following.

In the spoiler, you'll see I have 2 icons circled (kind of lol...)

Click #1, that will create a "spoiler" box in your post.

Click anywhere inside the spoiler box, so your cursor is inside the box.

Then, click icon #2. At the very top is where you'll past the link you copied from imgur.

I feel torn about the whole clan forum thing as well as others here. On the one hand it could keep us better organized by having a few threads for different topics. Although technically we have two threads and it's working out alright. And I of course would support this. On the other hand, I like that we have a constant presence on the official forums as well and other formers can chime in. Not that we couldn't if we set up guest access to a public section of our own forum, but outsiders would have to go out of their way to go to our forum instead of here. Decisions, decisions...

Gratz on your T-54! I love mine. I went: turret, D-10 (the gun leading to the Object 140. Which I like better than the T-62A BTW) then tracks then engine. This is the research route I take with 99% of my tanks. And yes, a wolf pack with 2-4 properly driven T-54's, T-62A's and Object 140's is devastating

The T-25 is an okay medium tank.  To me, anything it does could be done better by a T49, other than turret traverse.

 

I've got one if anyone wants to platoon.  It was one of my first premiums.  I've got a decent amount of experience in it.  It's fairly soft on armor, but bounces a bit.  The Turret is slow.  It bleeds speed in the corners horrendously, and pre-buff it took FOREVER to aim.  But the gun had good pen, and decent damage.  It's sort of a hybrid medium/turreted TD, but if you play it like a TD you will get screamed at.

Step one, get the pictures to your computer.  Step to, google image hosting.  Step three, select imgur.  Step four, upload images to imgur.  (It's one of the boxes on the upper middle portion of your screen.)  once the images load, you're going to want to look to the right.  there are several web link call outs.  You want the one labeled "Direct link."  Copy it.

 

Go back to the forums, head to the "post" area.  You'd see the sheet of paper with a corner folded back.  That's the spoiler.  Click that.  Click into the spoiler box.  Click the little box with the mountains and the sun in it right next to the youtube square above the post box.  Paste the picture link into the box called URL.  click the next line down, and it should load your picture in the preview.  Hit OK.

 

You're picture should now be loaded and ready to paste.

 

Back on the imgur page, you can click above the image to get to your "1st image," "2nd Image," etc etc.  More of the same for posting them.

I've noticed several people look at this type of data and reach the wrong conclusions, so here's a little piece of advice:

Consider who plays the tank as well as the results. On the basis of averages, one could (mistakenly) assume that Leo 1 and Fv4202 are much better tier 10 mediums than the T62A (the best tier 10 medium of the ones we have data for). Why do the numbers "lie"? Because these tank lines have only been introduced recently and many of the players who have them are very experienced - if not very good (in the case of the Leo it's a clear majority).

The Lowe is a pretty bad tank, but the people who purchase one are usually some of the worst players in the game and perform in it even worse than the average player would. How so? Because it takes a really poor player to look at the stats/battle performance of the IS-6, T-34 and the Lowe and to pick the Lowe. Thus the buyer is either someone who doesn't understand tank stats (bad), has never seen tier 8 combat (pretty bad), or a completist/masochist (might be good). The average stats on the Lowe are thus awful.

So many Canadians. No wonder it is such an easy going crew. Just spent a couple days at Grundy Provincial Park south of Sudbury.  I would go back in a heartbeat.  A lot of dynamite was used to make the roads around there.  Ookla, the spoiler idea is excellent and I will employ it if I ever have another post worthy game. About the forum and a move.  The forum is our home, but summer cottage to visit might be nice. I think that is jumping the gun a little though.  This is still new and some settling may still occur.

I do the same as you on all my tanks but I have always played heavies since I started playing Blitz. This is my first medium line that I took up to tier IX so far and it seems that mobility is king for the fast Russian mediums.

Bushka has a great video on his YouTube channel on mediums that helped me a lot to get a medium mindset.

For most tanks the engine should be upgraded before tracks. There is a substantial XP cost difference but upgraded tracks without more power means less opportunity to take advantage of the increased traverse.

Absolutely agree. I think this is a something most players miss when looking at the hard numbers and they forget to look into why the numbers are the way they are.

I sometimes upgrade engines first on certain heavy tanks. But on a medium I go tracks first. Why? Tracks are cheaper and impact a medium's performance more.  Being able to turn faster and hold top speed easier (due to better terrain resistance) are I traits in a medium I value more than just acceleration. But this is based on how I like to play. I'm always moving in a medium so agility has the highest priority.

I hear you. My thought is that engine allows for more choices on positions because I can get there and if I can cover more ground both over short and long distance it is at that point that the additional agility comes in. I am open to the possibility I am misfiring in my thinking. It is also possible that you are a much better driver than I am so you are leaning on agility whereas I might be leaning on getting to certain spots and cover. In that case we may both be doing the right thing for our style.

Hey guys I hope this works.

Last night userbinperl and I were platooning, usr in his E75 and me in my Patton M46, and I would have to say we did the SPUD'S PROUD!  Popped into Fort Despair, and lord and behold who do we see on the red team.... The platoon of ace1234 and pattymelt, the dreaded Grimm Reapers ( #2 rated clan). I said oh my and usr said good match. The battle was on and this how it turned out. Oh by the way the 4 kills usr had two them were ace and pattymelt, boy can he drive that E75.
