I've recently bought every gun on the T-34-85, but I can't decide whether I should use the D5T-85M, or load up the 122mm with HEAT? Which one is more effective penwise and damage wise? I want a gun to use to grind for the T-43.

It all depends on how you want to play the tank

 

If you want to play it well, then get the 85mm. If you want to play it poorly, then by all means go for the 122

Good dmg with HEAT, plus good pen, but is that worth it for the slow ROF?

Oh yea, lets rather have a not very good penetrating small barrel gun with absolute no velocity at all HEAT shell on a sub-par derp gun over   85mm fast firing gun that is considered excellent at its tier.

Derp guns on mediums = fail.  I saw a patton with the derp mounted the other day.  He didn't live long.

The T-34-85 is the strongest tank of tier VI, if you use the 85mm.

Tier 6 is officially the first tier that as a medium driver it is essential that you do not derp.  You are starting to get into the tactics and everyone playing their role.

 

The days of rolling up in your M4 with a super derp are gone.

 

Your enemies will start to have armor, know how to angle, and other mediums will be gunning for you with fast firing guns that have decent penetration, while you may very well bounce, even off from them.

 

I you want to derp, you will now have to drop down tiers.

 

Also, the T-34-85 has a wicked non-derp.  Use it.  Abuse it.  Learn to love it.

85mm is always better. The derp sucks because 

• Only potatoes use derp at tier 5+
• It has low velocity so the shell will take aboot a year for it to reach its target
• HEAT shells are expensive 
• Slow reload
• HEAT doesn't work with spaced armor
• Inaccurate 

If your stupid enough to use the derp, by all means go ahead. Just don't be in my team
