But then there are some things for which you earn XP that you don't earn credits for. Like kill shots. Or base Cap/Def points.

What differentiates the amount of credits earned in a tank? what makes the E4 earn that much less than the E3, just the fact that it has a turret? My guess is population balancing. I think WG would rather see a diverse population of all the tanks in play in battles.
If for whatever reason a tank is unpopular and underplayed across the population, then increasing its relative credit earning power is a way to encourage its use.

There have been quite a few questions recently regarding the information not being up to date. When I checked with my source at EU, I found out a couple of things. This information was actually "leaked" from a WG employee so it's the actual credit earnings. However, I was also informed that some of the WG staff didn't take too kindly to the leaks and started retaliating by banning players doing the leaks. Also, other regional WG staff are getting petty and territorial with the information sharing that's going on. Players on other servers who link to a different server besides their home are receiving Bans. This activity has curtailed the player base from updating info.

Thanks to putnamJavi for starting this discussion.
I understand leaks are bad, but we don't need leaks to understand this better, and update the information. I have developed a more or less working calculation for gross credits. Gross Credit Calculation thread.
I have begun compiling the unique tank coefficients. This is an easy calculation using data from a miserable loss. E.G. a loss with minimal damage, assisted damage and spotting. The larger any of these numbers, it will introduce rounding errors into the unique tank coefficient calculation.
I have already done Tier 1&2, and would love any data from you all for premium and 3+. The only data I need is the damage (if any), assisted damage (if any), spotted tanks (if any) and the gross credits (without premium) from a LOSS. A victory introduces a large potential for error.
This helps us understand the relative credit earning ability of the tanks, but I do not believe it is completely accurate. We need to factor in DPM into this calculation. It matters not if the tank has a high Credit Effectiveness (CE) if it cannot do high sustained damage. Once I get the unique tank coefficients, I would be happy to calculate the C/M (Credits per Minute) and see where everything lies. I would also like to introduce penetration chance into the equation, maybe have a ratio based upon caliber/average (front/side/rear) armor in +2/-2 Tiers?
All of this I already have the foundation for using the API, I just need the unique tank coefficients =)
