Everyone is saying the LB-1 is the best gun on the T-44. Personally, I don't see a difference between the D10T and the LB-1, other than a BIT more penetration, and maybe 5-10% quicker ROF. Is there some other bigger difference between these two guns other than its apperance? Am I supposed to get 122mm (please don't make me)?

DO NOT GET THE 122MM!!

LB-1 is better because it has a much better aiming time and accuracy as well as ROF

122mm is for big, dumb, heavy Russian tanks.

The T44 is not a big, dumb, heavy Russian tank.

Never get the 122mm for the T44.

lb1 helps make the tank, that's all you have to know. You'll have to get it either way on the t54.

The 100mm LB-1 and the 122mm guns are both good.  What the heck, buy 2, they're small.

LB-1 make is so much better than any other gun, the D10T just sucks, can't hit anything

The difference is...

Tier VIII - T-44
Gun ROF Low Dmg High Dmg   Low DPM High DPM Average DPM   Low Pen High Pen Average Pen   Dispersion Aiming Time
100 mm D10T 6.35 210 350   1334 2223 1778   131 219 175   0.42 2.9
100 mm LB-1 6.67 210 350   1401 2335 1868   131 219 175   0.35 2.3
122 mm D-25-44 3.02 300 500   906 1510 1208   131 219 175   0.43 3.4

So no, you don't want the 122 mm.  The LB-1 is your gun of choice on the T-44.

I believe prammo pen on the lb1 is better than either as well.

And the 122 mm isn't ideal for at least two reasons: RoF and accuracy. Mediums, especially ally very mobile ones like the t44, need faster firing guns to put that complement that mobility in battle. They need to keep the enemy on their toes and a slow firing gun really cuts down the threat. At barely 3 rounds per minute, the 122 mm is the slowest firing gun at that tier.

The 122 also lacks in terms of accuracy. The aiming time is extremely long and dispersion is fairly wide. This problem is further complicated by the slow RoF, which ensures that you only get one shot since each miss will cost you some 20 seconds.

The LB-1 is so much better because of the 2.3 sec aim time and the .35 accuracy versus the D10's 2.9 sec aim time and the .42 accuracy. Basically, the LB-1 allows you to peekaboom with a lot more confidence that your shots are going to hit and go through your target and when you're in a medium tank, minimizing exposure time means enemies don't get the chance they otherwise have to take off portions of your HP, HP you don't have a lot of in the first place. In a roundabout way, the LB-1 leads to more survivability, more survivability leads to more damage, more damage leads to more fun, more fun leads to you playing the game more, and playing the game more leads to unlocking better tanks.

PS: The 122 mm is the idiot gun for the T44 the same way the 76mm is the idiot gun for the Pershing. I have seen the 122 mm being used quite effectively in a platoon of T44s that includes a 122mm armed T44 and a 100mm armed T44, but I think that's pretty much the only time the 122mm is suitable for the T44.

Probably going to get it because I want to elite the T-44, and with the credit grinding I'm going to do once I research the T-54, might as well spend that tank exp. I'm only going to use it to try that tatic you mentioned. It sounds pretty effective.

The problem is that you need, absolutely NEED, a competent platoonmate to stay competitive, because that platoonmate is the one that covers you while you reload (and you can't really count on your team to provide the support you need). I would also recommend some type of voice comms (whether it be face-to-face or TeamSpeak) for the tactic to work effectively and the only reason you would use the gun IMO is if you just want to have fun. The 122 mm on the T44 is a party gun / a novelty gun that only comes out a couple times a month the same way the TOG II* is a party/fun tank.

LB-1 has better APCR penetration than the 122 mm.

This is old. I already have the 54 maxxed, and grinding for the Obj 140. I also have a KV-1S that I'm using to grind credits. Even without the top gun, credits still flow in from that tank using the 85mm
