I have this theory I've been thinking about regarding the value of blocked shots and the seemingly lost art of generating bounces, it'd be nice for me to have some data behind it to flesh out my theory a little more before I make a thread about it.

If Wargaming don't make a particular stat available though the API then BlitzStars can't use it I'm afraid.
There is a slight caveat - Wargaming are now using an API with additional data that does have a 'potential_damage_received' field. Which sounds like it refers to either blocked damage or can be used to calculate blocked damage (I haven't looked in to it). However, this statistic, for whatever reason, they're not sharing in the public API. I could use the private API for it but I'm not sure if they'd appreciate that... They also don't bother with any communication with non RU devs in my experience, so I'm in the dark.
Judging by their recent moves, I wouldn't be surprised if they remove the public API and sites/apps like BlitzStars wont work any more.

Guess we'll see!

I’m just bugging you.  

   Yes I think it’s a very relevant stat. 

I discussed it before - explaining why Damage values for tank types are not equal- and on many maps to win in Meds and TD’s one generally needs to General more damage than heavies etc.  

 

  I don’t want to derail Sock’s thread though, as what he says about the potential loss of public API concerns me.

Yeah that is particularly scary given that they've recently introduced their own little stat page.  Which frankly sucks compared to Blitzstars.

That would be a major blow to my enjoyment of the game, not to mention a pretty cruel trick to contributors like him that have done so much for players. I am quite worried about that as well.

This would be a cruel and fitting end to the run for the game. I am not stat-obsessed, but the push to a more arcade experience is of concern.

What I  do not understand is why they do not contact you and make a contract....why waste ressources when you already have a working product that you work on improving.

Yesterday there was some weird bugs going on where end of battles wasn’t working properly, and it seems that Blitzstars was recording the battles but not the damage from them. So now average damage numbers are all screwed up. Even today after the update and the bugs are gone, avg dmg numbers are still off. It thinks I averaged 6k dmg in my Rhm today which is crazy and sadly, did not happen lol. Any chance of getting this fixed soon?

BlitzStars doesn't directly record any game data - that's not really possible. It uses data provided by Wargaming's API. So (excepting bugs), whatever data you see is what Wargaming recorded and is reporting.

And Wargaming's API is having all sorts of problems right now (as are the forums...).

I’ve noticed a strong lack of Spare Parts. Is that intended?

No, it is not. This problem will solve itself with time. Many players have several dozens of vehicles in their Garages, so they don’t have enough Spare Parts for the entire vehicle fleet. But you will gradually collect enough Spare Parts to unlock new slots for purchased tanks in time.

Well something weird happened because even now, average damage numbers on my in game profile aren’t matching Blitzstars numbers somehow. Just for example, my Charioteer is showing over 400 average damage less on Blitzstars. All tanks that I played during the bugged phase are off.

Two (likely) possibilities, potentially a mix:
Ranked matches stats not counted in one but in the other

The WG database crash that happened a couple of days ago messed up some stuff. I see eg. '-2 battles' in some listings when I was casually checking some stats for particular tanks (possibly yours). This would have been caused by a 'rollback' by WG of stats, but after BlitzStars had recorded the stats. So it's some battles WG's API/database 'lost'. This will unfortunately f**k with 'periodic' stats which BlitzStars creates by saving 'snapshots' of the stats daily and calculating the deltas between stats for a given period.

 

End of the day, 'all' BlitzStars does is take raw data from WG and display / record / manipulate it.
