I've been driving a T54 for over 100 battles now, and barely cracked 40% WR. My T54 is fully upgraded. Granted, I keep getting into horrible teams 8 out of every 10 games, that lose 7-0, 7-1 or 7-2. I can occasionally bust out a 2500-3000 damage game, but that's probably 1 in every 12 games. I've come to the conclusion that my skill set is simply not good enough to carry tier 9 and 10 battles (I'm ok at tier 7 and 8 with other Soviet mediums). My finger dexterity is definitely lacking, especially in tight quarter brawls with other mediums.

I still want to be useful to my teammates though, in tier 9 and 10 battles. Should I just hang around the heavies and play support? Snipe? Scout, hide, and scout? Any tips for a player that does not have the dexterity and hand eye coordination that I used to have 10 years ago?

Thanks for the help.

At less than 3,000 battles I would have been a menace to society in the T54 so kudos to you for even attempting it.  My suggestion is a couple of video replays.  What I see from major's abilities is continual movement from bad to good, bad to good.  Keep moving and improving your spot to contribute.

I don't think I'm that great in a T54 either. Still lots to learn. That said, most definitely scout. And in terms of supporting heavies and TDs, tracking enemies with your higher ROF will make it all the easier for your teammates to knock them out.

Also actually search for dimzzy on the forums and watch some of his videos. His playstyle in mediums is very different from most, almost like he was driving a TD (glass cannon). It much more slower and cautious, yet still very highly effective.

Use the higher rof gun. Its the one leading to obj. Use heat as needed vs another 54 or medium. Pop adrenaline when you catch a vs 2 and always face hull front to them. Its low and turret is stout and will troll some bounces as long as you keep moving. Use little depressions to hull down when you have the chance. Like ammo said relocate and improve position always. Please dont be the 54 that sits there and trades shots. Keep her moving. Watch bushkas how to med for some other little tricks.

Also dont be afraid to let her sit in the garage while you work on other grinds. I can say from playing pershing vs 9s and 10s i know how to not get hit and peek a boom vs them better. If you dont get hit in a soft tank you wont get hit in the tougher tanks. Good luck

Just want to emphasize these words from the OP. In effect, he's saying he's not that great at the fast moving typical play style that most T54 players excel with. So recommending that he play this way doesn't actually help him.

Possibly the greater question is should he be playing a medium of this nature at all? Because to maximize its potential, you really do need the fast dexterity and coordination to do so.

This is why I fare less well in mediums for the most part myself because I like the slower, steady rhythm of higher alpha tanks. But again that's why I mentioned Dimzzy because his play style isnt typical of a medium driver.

This. Dimzzy and Bushka have helped my medium play A LOT. I've managed to keep up almost 70% win rate in the T54, by using their tips and tricks and don't be afraid to keep 10-15 heat around.

I did not like my T54 when I first got it.   Thought to myself, what is everyone on forums talking about. This thing stinks. Then it hit me. t54 is best at supporting. Far and near support( snipe or brawl). Now I love my T54. It's one of my favs and I will never sell it. Try staying behind the battle until you see where everyone is. Then flank like a [edited]. I wait to brawl until middle to end of fight. Go in too early and armor will not hold up. Good luck! Platoon me, two t54's is boss 9 out of 10 times.

Thanks for the tips folks. I've tried played much more conservatively, and I've had slightly more success as far as WR. So much of it depends on the team that I land in. In any event, the WR has creeped up to above 40%! Woohoo!!

For the folks that provided the advice, I'm pleased to say that after 300+ battles, my win rate creeped up to 51-52% now. I estimate that my WR in the T54 has been about 60% in the last 100 battles or so. A lot of it has to do with luck in getting into good teams, but I've also started getting more 2500+ damage battles, and even scored my first mastery in the T54 with a 5579 damage game!!

I am spamming a lot of premium rounds though, which is bankrupting me. Do most people lose money when driving the T54?

I must say that driving the T54 has been a whole lot more fun lately, even though my skill is average at best.

Thank you for the help!!

Spam HEAT unapologetically, then grind credits in something else.

The digital gods gave that tank stupid good pen on premium rounds.  It would be ashame not to use it.

Today I went to the bathroom and forgot my phone.

There are 256 tiles in the bathroom...

E100 and t54 need premium ammo and may loose credits but as long as you win who cares. High tiers are not meant to be profitable. Don't forget that most of the time you are the highest tier tank in the game which makes up for it

LOL! No apologies for spamming HEAT. It just hurts the wallet when I see a minus 50,000 credits after winning the battle!

I've been using a Panther/M10 to grind credits. That tank is easy money/credit!

So it's a common thing for high tier battles to yield negative credits, no matter what tank is being used? The T54 is my only Tier IX tank.

Yup it bleeds money. I have to run one and then one or to games in my victory to pay for it. The key is to just stay alive first and fight second.

I have a few videos. I am at 57% on it. T-54 playlist.
