Read First

This is my first attempt at a guide, constructive criticism is welcomed

The ISU-152 Is the Russian tier 8 Tank Destroyer.

 

       Basic Characteristics :

            Cons:

            Poor Armor

            Only place a tier 6-7 may bounce is its Gun mantlet

            Poor Manuverability

            Long reloads

            Poor accuracy

 

   Pros:

           Armor may be angled

           Good selection of Guns

            BL10

The Armor  

          Armor is very Poor, only 90 mil in the front and side, 60 on the rear easily penetrated by most tanks and with a health pool of 1010 (the lowest of all tier 8 TDs, it will quickly succumb to concentrated fire.

 

Mobility

           Even though it has a top speed of  43 km/h, it is very rare to see this speed usually the speed will remain in 20-30 km/h. Also it has a traverse speed of 21 degrees per second top, this thing turns like a battle ship and if it is flanked will likely die. Also due to a very limited gun traverse this makes turning a huge pain.

 

The Guns

               The only thing which saves this tank from being absolute crap is its selection of guns leading up to the BL10. When you begin if you were smart enough to unlock the                  122 gun on the SU-152 you will have the 152 ML-20s which is the stock gun, and 2 122mm guns from the SU-152. Finally leading up to the BL10.

My feelings about each gun

 

152 ML-20S : good stock gun use HE and splash all, hit rear watch enemy disappear, use when stock

122 A-19 : don't use it, go back to SU-152 and get D-25

122 D-25 : fine gun for tier 7, bad gun for tier 8+, doesn't have accuracy or pen needed to snipe

122 BL-9S : only used on ISU, a good gun only for those who want to elite tank other wise go to BL-10

152 BL-10 : What make this thing scare others, amazing pen and damage, just one problem it has a mind of its own sometimes and not in the good way

 

​Recommended upgrade path :

122 D-25 if you don't have it, 152 BL-10, 2nd tracks so you turn more like a cruiser than a battleship, 2nd engine is used on many different soviet tanks, the BL-9S if you desire it.

​Recommended equipment : Vents, Gun rammer, and binocs

​Recommended consumables :   repair kit, med kit and fire extinguisher

 

How to play : be offensive but not over aggressive, go with others, and wait for opportunity to ruin some ones day with 152mm round

 

Overall : get BL-10 and have lots of fun watching heavies run

I usually wait for someone to take a shot and then gang up on it while it's reloading.

I've seen all kinds of Tier X's bounce off an ISU's gun mantlet.

Hate the ISU-152... Your damage pool is low, but one shot from a BL10 will ruin anybody's day.

It is amazing how tanks back up when the see me.  I don't know if they realize I have the BL-10 mounted, but the retreat quickly.  That gun is amazing.  I only wish the ISU was a bit more maneuverable.

I remember once there was an isu platoon (they were also top tanks) on the enemy team and one of them said "we have BL-10s" and EVERYONE on my team was freaking out, what was so funny though was once the two of them showed up, they were both dead in seconds because everybody on our team stopped what they were doing and shot the **** out of them, sometimes the fear factor can be a bad thing  at the end of the battle only one of them did damage, and it was only one shot too LOL

I started the Soviet TD line after getting to the T-54.  I got tired of hearing, "we barely scratched them."  Needless to say, with the BL-10, I no longer hear that.

I have the 152mm Ml-20 on the SU-152. What do you mean by I need to get the 122 mm guns to get the BL-10 on the ISU? If I don't buy them I don't unlock it?? I have 50k xp on it so I don't wanna waste it on unnecessary stuff.

Oh wait, so if I but the 122 on the SU i don't have to buy them on the ISU. As I said, I have 50k xp. Should I try to get the ISU or get the SU-152 guns then the ISU?

Get the 122mm guns on the SU before you play the ISU. They're the same guns therefore you'd have to play through them on a higher tier where instead you could've started immediately for the BL-10.

Get the guns, no doubt about it. You'll be able to grind the BL-10 immediately.

but the BL-10 is nerfed in Blitz. It only does 600 damage

122mm guns on Russian heavies got their reload speeds nerfed too :(

This game use to be russian bias because it was made my russians. But i guess since Blitz was made by the EU the german and american lines are better

The devs aren't Russian, they're from Belarus or something.

Thanks for the guide. I'm grinding down the Russian TD line at the moment so I'll keep an eye on this thread.

640 average damage on AP is nothing to sneeze at, also switching to HE shells when someone turns their back or side to you can be pretty effective :)

 

Basically taking almost half of any tier 8 heavy HP in one shot will make them pee their pants and hide behind the corner waiting for you to take another shot at someone else before they come out again.

 

Another thing is ISU-152 is probably the ONLY tier 8 tank that is not completely useless when facing of against tier 10...you can pretty much penn the front of anything...

Was really looking forward to ISU-152.  Purchased tonight...and promptly went 0-8 in first 8 games.

 

The x5 is a mixed blessing--helps with grinds but can really bring out some horrific team play.
