Bringing this thread back from the dead. Really sucking in the ISU152 but i feel that i still want to keep it around for some reason. Anyone has had success and can share some more tips other than whats found here? I only have the BL9S right now, im hoping things will be a litte more fun once i get the BL10
The BL10 is what makes this tank. I don't know how to play it with the BL9S, as I just ran the 152mm derp from before and spammed HEAT until I got the big gun. But I don't think I play it significantly differently between those two.
Basically, I try and be a sneaky bugger. Stay second line, and *IN HARD COVER* at all times until you're ready to take a shot. You will be prioritized and you will get plastered if you expose yourself. Basically I pick a group to run with, either the mediums or heavies, and hang back, hiding in cover until they get stuck into it with reds.
Once everyone is well and truly distracted, I look for good available targets to hit. My priorities are 1: anything with about 4-500 HP I can one shot and kill, and then 2. high HP tanks that can suck up all that glorious alpha. Really low HP tanks I try and let my teammates finish off, but sometimes you need to step in and take care of things.
Once you get the shot off, go and hide again. Preferably long enough to reset camo. Basically you want Red to not even know you are there until you pop out, obliterate someone, and disappear. You can not not not remain exposed as you have no HP and almost no armour (though your mantlet will perform the odd miracle, it's not reliable).
Sneaky sneak sneaky. Good luck.
