Wow, the maths must have been drastically off, by several of orders of magnitude, it looks like.

Thanks for the timely clarification. Better to find this out now than 1 day from the end of the contest.

Let's just say that my estimation of one of the variables had a decimal point where a comma should have been....

1.000 -> 1,000

Yup, that's three orders of magnitude, right there.

Is that directed at me?

1 * 10 = 10 ("there is one order of magnitude difference between 1 and 10" )

1 * 10 * 10 = 100 ("there are two orders of magnitude difference between 1 and 100" )

1 * 10 * 10 * 10 = 1,000 ("there are three orders of magnitude difference between 1 and 1,000" )

No..No.. not at all. I was just confused on how the reward system will work. I'm confused on when he says that any clan that gets 25 War Bonds will get: 10 clans will get 250 gold or something and 1 clan will get 5 days of premium. i wasn't sure what that statement ment.

I understand that this may not be the ideal situation, especially with the no guaranteed prize for participation. I apologize for that, it was my miss and I will do my utmost not to let it happen again.

I've got to say, the forum reaction and CC_Slys handling of this were very grown up.  Nicely done forum!

Dude, the difference between 300. and 300 is insignificant compared to the difference between 300.000 and 300,000.

Got no clan, but I'm spilling battles like beans anyway. Getting a little desperate for a clan that's looking to win this "exclusive" tank.

Don't deseperate bud. Im sure you can find a clan.

Best way would be to contact a few clan leaders.

I've heard that some of them "clan leaders" are themselves desesperate for new recruits... Considering how SRT and DD are currently performing.

SRT FTW

  1. Grab any tank from garage.
  2. YOLO to death ASAP
  3. Exit battle in progress.
  4. Goto Step 1.

Also if anyone thought AFKs were a problem before, won't handing out incentives to just hit the battle button and nothing else spawn more AFK behavior?

While I really REALLY appreciate CC and WG's efforts to have contests, the above quotes were exactly my first thoughts. Here come the YOLO's and AFK's.  And get ready for the rash of accusations and rant threads regarding the same.  Sigh...

Hopefully people have or will learn that trying to 'game' these contests isn't as much fun in the long run as it seems in the short term.

Maybe, just maybe, WG is using the battle count contest as a cover story, to really test out their new server side AFK detection code.

  1. Promote a contest based on battle count
  2. Watch anti-AFK code catch all the serial AFK players.
  3. Mass bans ensue.
  4. All remaining players rejoice in a post-AFK paradise.

I'm not sure how going AFK would help you in this contest.  A game is going to take just as long whether you're AFK or not.  It's not like before when you could start a battle and then immediately exit back to the garage.  You're stuck in that tank until it's dead or the match ends.

Now YOLO'ing to a quick death, that's another issue entirely.  But if someone is willing to completely trash their stats for dozens of battles a day for the sake of a gift tank, well, they have bigger problems.

I have no doubt some will try to game the contest. Get enough adolescent primates in a room, and there are bound to be some shenanigans. But I also trust the community to police that, as has happened in the past.

And kudos to Sly. Really great response, thanks for being frank and honest and owning your mistake. More than undoes any damage the mistake made, in my book. o7, sir.
