I had the same issue going up to the isu152, even sold it cuz I thought it was so freaking horrible compared to the su.

Then i I read a few guides, bought it again. Managed to grind a few upgrades, became more fun. Then got the Finger of God

T29 is my fave tank.

Learn the tank, don't try to TEACH the tank!

Cheers!

This is my favorite tank I upgraded it all the way and haven't sold it yet. Remember HULL DOWN ALL THE TIME

I recently got the T29, but I waited until I had enough credits to fully upgrade it.  I have made my mind up that I am not going to get higher tier tanks unless I can upgrade right away.  Why have a bunch of losses and get upset with a tank that can be very good when upgraded?  I love the T29, my WR with it is about 75% I think.  Granted I only have 20 battles but it is my first tier 7 and I watched some Utube (go to the video vault) on how to play this tank.  As others have said hull down is the key.  Also I try to figure out where I am going to go quickly because this tank is not a sprinter but it is not super slow either but you can get there if you don't hesitate.  I only have about 1,300 battles but went after this tank because I read so much good about it and I did good with my KV1 and I thought the play style would be similar with the T29.

Good luck, upgrade and be patient with this tank.

T29 with provisions is a beast with 1/1MM. It is surprisingly mobile with engine boosts and can take a pounding, a keeper for sure.

Mike... if you want to go into a training room we can work on what "Hull Down" is supposed to look like if you want.  The American Heavy line is almost exclusively meant to be used this way and they are beasts that inspire fear in the enemy when they are used right.   I can record the view from my perspective or even stream it at the same time if you can watch a stream and play the game at the same time.  There will be a little delay but it will allow you to see what my view looks like compared to your view, which is very important in understanding what a hulldown position truly looks like.

Best if we use DISCORD/TS3 for this.  PM me if interested.

Is t 29 hull down success dependent on map knowledge? Specific depressions and rocks, bunkers, etc? Curious as I ran into a t-29 hull down on top of new rockfield...I could only see a dark red hull and gun pointed my way. As i was lower tier I took a shot and got out on the flank but that tank did massive damage to my team until it was overwhelmed on the flank...very impressed with the t-29

cheers

I would say a large part of success in general regardless of tank is based on map and tank knowledge.  There are certain areas that can be very hard to dig out good hull downers though, sounds like that t29 found one.

The T29 is horrible as stock. Its better that you upgrade your gun as fast as you can. The T29 is best when the hull is covered and the front of the turret is pointed at the enemies trying to attack you.
