I am not a great player, just under 56% WR...I have 14k battles...I play the game a lot.  I play mostly heavies and mediums.  I finally (yes, I take my time and enjoy the ride) got my second Tier X, the M48.  Was pretty hesitant to pull the trigger on it since it is regarded as the worst Tier X medium...and maybe it is I can't compare it to others as its the only tier X I have.

My opinion - Its a good tank and its very fun to play.  Maybe its too early in my run but I am doing pretty well in this "American muscle" tank.  I like it a lot.  Just got the top gun so most of my games have been using the tier IX gun and I am at 53% WR, again nothing great but not bad for a tank that is not full crew and was using the weaker gun.  I really think there is something to the idea that certain tanks just fit to a particular person, maybe that's it.  Its not super fast, which for me may be a good think as really fast tanks I get carried away and over extend.  The armor so far has been bouncier than I expected it to be and the monster tracks are great for black holing enemy shells.  Again, only have 43 games in it so maybe I have been on a lucky run or what ever, time will tell.  Also I watched Bushka's video on it and he was mentioning its a great drive by shooter, which also fits my style....I love shooting on the move and keeping the reds guessing and trying to track me down.  The 48 -  American Muscle.  Eeeeeeyyyyye LIKE it!

Great job!  Keep up the good work.  I think the M48 has potential, but I need more practice in mine.

I like mine as well, it just requires a different play syle than russian mediums, you can't brawl with other mediums very well in it.

Love my M48 Patton! I have a 53% WR overall, but my M48 WR has been growing, now it is at 57% (230 games). My M48 avg damage is 50% higher than my overall avg damage. Having a Tier X tank that actually improves my stats (and makes credits) is a big deal for me at my level. For the most part I'm enjoying solo Tier 10 games.

Backstory for those who care:

I was grinding up the Russian mediums. When I got to the T-44 I rolled out the Pershing which I hadn't touched in year (I was terrible in that tank). I was grinding both lines simultaneously. When I got to the tier 9 tanks, I watched a few videos, but Ruckus's M46 video clicked with me. I rocked the M46, while not doing so well in the T-54. I feel a lot of what I learned in the M46 transferred well to the M48. The T-54 has almost enough XP to unlock the Obj.140, but I don't see the point in getting it. My play style doesn't work well with the T-54, that's not going to change in the Obj.

I loved the T20 (73%), Pershing (68%) and M46 (65%) but am struggling with the M48 (57%) I'm sure it  has a lot to do with more T10 opponents, but to me; much of the gun depression advantage is lost by having such a "soft" turret.

I guess I need to adjust my play style to more peek-a-boom and work on exploiting the view range advantage.

Is that because you're a hull down / gun depression kind of player?  That's really the main advantage you get with the US mediums... the USSR mediums seem so much better in every other sense.

The M48 is interesting. I've never driven one, but I've shot at plenty. For example, if you 1v1 a patton in the 4202, one game you will kill him while taking maybe one or two hits, but the second game you just cannot penetrate. The turret is so troll, I've fired E50M and E100 HEAT from point-blank and bounced consistently. Good Patton drivers drive me nuts, but bad ones are damage piñatas.

So far I am noticing something similar...the bounces I have gotten just seem to be very inconsistent...can't quite figure out exactly what to do to insure a bounce, its very random but in a good way.  I find lots of little movements (much like any tank) will increase the bounce chance, but with the 48 it seems to work especially well.

at first i hated my M48, I struggled to keep it over 40% but its cuz i was playing it totally wrong, I don't play it nearly as much as i should if i ever want to get good in it, but i think its a great tank. I prefer my leopard or T-62a

I was another that was very reluctant to get the M48. Finally pulled the trigger a little while back and feel much better in it than I do in the soviet tier X mediums. Like you said, some tanks just fit certain player styles better than others.

Many months ago I made a post titled M48 Frustration.

Part of my problem was watching other "mediums" play and assuming I had to play like the other mediums. I.e., Russian mediums.

Dont dance with with other mediums, keep distance.

Youre everyone's favorite target, you show very little red at all.

Think fast TD

Get the top gun fast.

Learn to take your thumb off the throttle... Play it like the T20 where you do not want to get shot at all.

Carry both multi repair and repair to quickly repair tracks. You will get double tracked in one game.

Heres the tricky part about the M48... Many great players hated the tank until they figured out this little quirk..... The distance I mentioned above is crucial, don't dance with mediums, BUT inevitably you have to, the distance is closed between you and a T62.... Now ram, facehug, side hug, back up, fire, ram, repeat....

Well so much for beginners luck...my WR is now down to like 46% in this tank.  I still really like playing it, a lot but the combination of what I consider really REALLY bad teams and maybe a not so powerful tank is really hurting me.  Example...an IS-7 can do over 2000 damage in a game almost by accident....any noob can point and shoot and do 450 alpha, do that 4 times in a game and there you go.  Yay Russian BIAS.  You really have to be on your game in the 48 to score big damage games, kinda just like ALL the US meds.  I have been averaging between the 2nd and the 3rd most damage on my team per game.....most of the time doing pretty decent damage but my GOD this weekend has been by far the worst for me in terms of just bad teams and bad luck.  I can't tell you how many times I am fighting 3 v 1 in this thing.  Seems every match.  Waaaaaaa!

Welcome to tier 10.  It's a lot like tier 1, except you're more likely to lose credits.

I pull out all the stops at tier 10.  I very rarely play without a platoon mate and let prammo fly without much concern.  Ever since I have done this I have noticed my tier 10 stats increasing.

Okay, I absolutely love the T20, but all the upper tier mediums I have struggled with. Some of it is due to it being the first line I ground through, so my win rate in them suffered. However, the M48 is the worst. I just can't seem to play it, but I want to get better at it. Any tips would be great. For one, how do you deal with enemy mediums and keep them from hitting the tumor on top?

Dang, you know your stuff. Yup, that's me. 5100 games in the T29/T32/T34/T30 must've formed my play style.

its really a joke that they allow this tank to continue on without some kind of buff.  I watch 62a and Obj 140 Russian tier X meds literally flying around the map, doing almost anything they want, to who ever they want, when ever they want and its like really?  With those as the 48 counterparts, they can't buff the 48 a little.  You see the stats have it as the worst tier X.  Give it something more, a more powerful alpha gun.  I tiny bit more speed or armor.  Oh...it has the best view range...who cares....

I'm pretty sure that that particular honor goes to the Death Star.

I've seen a lot of people praise the M48 as the best pub-stomper.
